Signs of the Apolcalypse

Maybe the Falcons are starting to wake up and realize what Kirby was building as a defensive machine in his time in Athens.

I just remember Tindall being crazy athletic and fast. For a team that has been Georgia Bulldog-avoidant, the Falcons seem to be waking (slowly) up to what a lot of other franchises have already realized.

  1. The Falcons could’ve drafted Brock Bowers in ’24. They passed. I’ll never forgive them for this.

  2. Idgaf if they change their name to UGA west. They suck, they always have, and they always will. The signing of tua finished me off. Yeah, I’m still pissed and bitter.

  3. In 1983, with the 21st pick in the draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers selected legendary DT Gabriel Rivera from Texas Tech.

Meanwhile, Miami selected Dan Marino with the 27th pick.

Point being, no NFL franchise has really concentrated on acquiring the talent of the local university. The falcons suck its true, but its also true that OJ Simpson played his pro ball in Buffalo, Joe Montana ain’t from California, but Tom Brady is, and tho the University of Miami has produced tons of pro HOF football players, none were made famous playing for the fins.

Dick Butkus and Earl Campbell are the only home grown, played his college ball in state, HOF for the hometown team that I can think of.

And frankly had Bernie Kosar been from Los Angeles instead of suburban Youngstown, Bill Belichick’s first HC job would have gone a helluva lot smoother than it did.

The pros don’t want hometown heroes. They want performers they can cut loose without consequence the moment they start slipping.
