Good morning and Happy New Year! Well, Whinin’ Day and the Bucknuts will get to watch the rest of the CFP from their couch. Time to put Ole Miss on the couch with them.
Now, I’m no prognosticator, I’m just a fan. However, last season, headed into the Sugar Bowl, I was uneasy about the game and, to my horror, it didn’t turn out well for the good guys. Don’t have any of those feelings this season. This team has grown up and made huge strides as we watched them all season. Ole Miss might get some early points but, I look for UGA to take over, at the latest, by the second half. Don’t think Ole Miss can overcome us. Last year, the middle 8 killed us, got us down so far, we couldn’t rally back. I trust Kirby to button that up today.
In other news, there’s a couple of other games today as well. Part of me wants to see Bama shut Indiana down and shut up all the B1G idiots. But, I don’t really want to see Bama for a 3rd time this season so, I’m conflicted. As far as TT/Oregon, I’m pulling for TT, although I really don’t care which one wins.

The Rose Bowl is kicking at 4:15! They leave plenty of time between games so they should be close on time.
I’ve never understood why this happens. There are SO many pre-game shows and in-between game studio segments that cover EVERYTHING that is discussed prior to kick-off of the actual games. WHY does anyone think that we need all of the crap prior to the kick-off? Why do we EVER have to see the coin toss or listen to the national anthem? These things should have already happened PRIOR to the TV start time. Most 12 noon games START at 12 noon. Why can’t the primetime 8 pm games do the same (especially since we know that the game may last until midnight!)? And then they have the audacity to say that the games last too long!!!
I believe the layoff effect is very real. If the offense starts fast again with scoring on the first few drives. My guess is we just physically break their will and roll big.
If not it’s probably a Dawg fight which still favors the good guys. Just don’t beat yourself with turnovers and explosives then I think the Dawgs find away to keep playing.

I have to tell my Rose Bowl story again. We got there at 4:30am so we could go to the parade and the game. A guy load of guys pulled in behind us and they had Ft Bliss stickers on their car so I chatted them up. None had ever been to Athens but they were Dawg fans. Asked them why they came from so far and they said “we’re going to Game Day!!!” We never saw them again but we found out that Game Day wasn’t at the Rose Bowl, it was at the Sugar!!!

The unable to set the edge virus was cured in Athens but appears to have spread to Tuscaloosa. I suspect if this game continues this way, Deboer’s seat is going to heat back up in a hurry. This was one where he actually had a chance to do something smart so that OM would have no time to put any drive together and we could live to fight in OT and he stupidly went for hero ball there by throwing it.
Do you think Kirby just has that headset on to listen to the old school rap channel on his Sirius XM app? Kirby made the call to go for the TD, and Bobo made the play call to do what Kirby asked. I guarantee Bobo didn’t make that call without Kirby’s blessing.

We win this game with Bobo at center. We were never winning this playoff without him. Season was done as soon as he went down; just took the right team to exploit it.
Throw in Metchie and Williams and its not close.
We lost this game for a few reasons but when your offensive play caller can’t adapt when things get tough then it causes the players to get frustrated and it showed tonight. Bad calls by all of uga coaches in this game bobo the bozo takes the cake once again. We’ll never win a natty with him as our offensive coordinator
Been saying this for years. He’s not elite.
That’s about as far as this team was going to go and better than expected. We were really missing some key pieces all year. I don’t know that Stetson Bennett will ever truly get the recognition he deserves for what he did (yes…the defenses were NFL all stars but he still had to pull games out).
Kirby needs to rethink the QB position. Gunner has been a great Dawg, all grit and winning drive. But he just doesn’t have a deep ball nor back shoulder pass. It limits the playbook too much.
Bobo should retire gracefully. The defensive coordinators are figuring him out. He’s not going to bring a fresh perspective and new ideas that are woefully needed. Another HoF Dawg, but time to move on.
Kirby needs some fresh coaching blood around him with the gravitas to challenge his game planning and thinking. It’s not a flaw, it’s what the very best do to keep getting better.
