Tsk tsk.
I gotta admit, I enjoyed watching Vanderbilt get curb stomped by Iowa. While it brings about the cavalcade of nonsense about the relative strength of the SEC (never mind the opt outs galore for Tennessee, LSU, and Missouri) it was somewhat satisfying to also watch Texas throttle Michigan and to later watch Miami end Ohio State’s season.
Not because of conference anything, but just because it’s easy to hate two teams who won championships that they didn’t even deserve to be playing for. This is my yearly reminder to anyone who listens that there is no such thing as an “SEC fan”. Everyone else in the conference can lose on any given Saturday and I, for one, enjoy watching it. To hell with everyone else that’s not named Georgia Bulldogs.
Especially when other SEC teams are lead by people like this:
Iowa gained nearly 400 yards of offense and scored 34 points, for a team that had seemingly abandoned the forward pass years ago. And we are supposed to believe “Vanderbilt is a new SEC powerhouse”. The Commodes were undisciplined, hapless on defense, and outclassed by Iowa all day long. They looked, to be honest, like a program that’s not accustomed to playing in bowl games let alone carrying a ten win record into the post-season.
I say all this to say, people will make a big deal about records and conference this and conference that, but at the end of the day there’s only a handful of teams who are legitimately championship worthy. The rest is all just fodder for passing boring days away around the holidays.
Still, Ohio State should petition to never have to play on New Year’s Eve ever again.
The Illini were minus several starters as well!!!
Oh no doubt, just saying that the bowl season isn’t exactly the best litmus test for conference strength given all the roster movement that occurs. Illinois looked good though and beating Tennessee in Tennessee was a beautiful thing to watch
AMEN. brother
I’m with you JP. In the past I was an SEC man all the way when it came to bowl games, now all I care about is if the Dawgs win. I enjoyed watching Pavia get his big mouth ass tore up yesterday. The toothless hounds and little bobby, I’ll never pull for. Texass was a toss up for me. I really didn’t care one way or another. Only thing is winning helps there recruiting a bit more.
I am a SEC fan, except Florida, Tennessee, & Auburn. I now add Vanderbilt because I am OVER the Pavia bullshit & behavior.
I am also happy for the Little 10 & hope Bama is able to handle Indiana.
It was really enjoyable day of football. Watching Vandy get abused after all of Pavia’s trash talking was very entertaining. Any Tennessee loss is always fun to watch. Texas at Michigan was a tuff call. That was a meteor game for me.
For once the final game lived up to the hype. I will never get tired of watching tOSU lose to anyone. That they were the CFB favorite was the cherry on top. Miami just physically beat their ass. Beck became a game manager playing winning small ball. I didn’t see that happening.
I feel the same exact way.
I will add that the TX win is already annoying as hell with the “manning is already my heisman favorite” utterances from the talking heads.
They’re back!
That big brain was former Trekkie Roddy Jones….
Forget the heisman…”manning the magician” has been born…(again)
I was impressed by Beck last night, especially down the stretch. He channeled his inner Gunner on a few of those runs, especially that last scramble for a first down when he lowered his shoulder into the defender.
I also particularly liked seeing the flow of Bucknut fans out of the stadium once Miami was inside the 10 yard line.
Ohio states line of scrimmage was not what they thought it was.
Hell Yea to all of that!
tOSU should have had the #4 seed. The b10 biased committee didn’t drop them after a loss because they knew that would set up a b10 elimination game with Oregon.
Instead let’s let the SEC Champs play Ole Miss and eliminate one of them. The committee knew the G5 teams would lose.
I’m so happy there is now zero chance of an Indiana tOSU rematch for the NC. Watching tOSU fans walking out with time on the clock is almost as good as watching gators running for the isles in Jacksonville to escape watching anymore of their beating.
an OSU. There are plenty of other state universities in Ohio. Plus those jackasses tried to trademark “the”. Screw them.
I wonder if Cryin Day will lose his Grecian Formula sponsorship?
You misspelled aOSU. Loved watching them get manhandled.
My wife is a Longhorn so I was pulling for Texas but that was easy since I hate cheating Michigan. Plus their QB seems like a real dick running his mouth all game even after his 3rd INT.
Vanderbilt looked like it didn’t practice for the bowl game. Pavia reminds me of Kryin’ Brent Key, someone who got full of himself in a hurry.
Vandy held it in as long as they could but they couldn’t hide their New Mexico State dna forever.
Way to go out with a cap gun size effort. Anchor down…
I am over all conference crap! Means nothing at bowl season. I HATE everybody but us all the time! FTMF! Go Dawgs!!!
I am done with this conference crap. Don’t mean nothing in bowl season! I HATE everybody but us! FTMF! Go Dawgs!
Sorry guys. I am new at this. Once was enough.
Golf in perfect 60 degree weather, take the wife to dinner early, home to watch the suckeyes lose for dessert, watch fireworks from top of Pikes Peak at midnight. Didn’t care one bit about the other bowl games or outcomes. Happy New Year indeed! GATA!
Im excited we can have an opportunity to beat another orange team.
Also, how did Iowa score more than 7? The 2nd shift Waffle House crew in Moultrie can stop that offense.
Miami totally dominated Bucks at the LOS and the vaunted defensive and offensive superstars never really materialized. Ohio St. looked flat as hell all night. That said, trying to figure out who to root for between Ohio, Beach Bums, Sign Stealers or Baja Oklahoma was an impossible task. To echo the comments of many others…..FTMF!
Fucknuts will complain the committee’s ranking was rigged in their favor and they should have played in the 1st round, ya know, they lost in their conference chumpionship game and should have dropped to 8th or 9th vs the green wave or the dukes, cause it’s really hard to play against teams with a pulse plus Mickys promos supporting another tosu trophy and bright lights n stuff….let’s smell Agent Herbstreit and his current line of sheot….GO DAWGS!!
Should anyone really care….In 2026, #AUBURN SUCKS!!
Happy New Year indeed! It was great watching the B1G lose two games in one day! E$PN highlighted all the studs that tOSU had on both sides of the ball, what those players failed to do was play as a unit, TEAM! That’s the difference in a team bought versus what CKS has created in Athens, players that play for not just themselves, they play for one another, a true TEAM! We are living in the best years of college football as Georgia fans, let’s enjoy the ride! HBTD
I wasn’t watching but was a Michigan lean in their game against Texas.
Loved seeing anOSU get beat on NYE again. The missed FG brought a smile to my face.
Diego did the impossibly I wanted to see the Big10 beat Vandy.
SEC loyalty isn’t what it was.
In days of old, I would have been pulling for the little underdog Vanderbilt to pull off the win. No longer. Pavia is such a douche that no matter who they were playing, I would have pulled for the other team. He has truly become one of the most despicable players that college football has seen in a long time.
Since $cam Newton and Johnny Football.
Down goes TT another team with a bye. 0-6 is more than a trend.
I’m growing to like Dan Lanning’s idea of finding a way to play every Saturday after conference championship. No layoffs for anyone play till you’re eliminated ending on New Year’s Day. Yeah there’s plenty of issues with school, NFL schedules and other issues. This current system is broken.
