Your Daily Reminder to Look Away

Click your heels together and repeat after me: “there’s no basketball in Athens…there’s no basketball in Athens…”

10-1 and ranked in the Top 25. And in case you haven’t tuned in, we’ve got a legit big in the paint this season, something we haven’t had in a long long time. Who was the last one? Charles Claxton?

Go Dawgs!

  1. I watched the game last night. I know it was only Western Carolina, but the Hoop Dawgs were on fire. That is one fun team to watch.

And Somto is a baaaad man.

  2. This is becoming just blatant trolling man. Trying to trigger 40 years of PTSD or what? Let’s see how the SEC schedule starts.

Seriously happy and hope this is legit, but why is that bitch Hope hanging around out front? She sure is purty tho….

    • Hope is a dangerous thing. Honestly, the SEC isn’t looking like world-beaters right now so I think we have a good chance in league play. I was at UGA during the Tubby years so I’ve lived in silent optimism for a long time that Georgia basketball will make a return…fingers crossed.

  3. If by “legit big in the paint” you mean Cyril we had him last year, too. He looked the part physically then, and occasionally he flashed greatness in his play. This year he has developed a lot against what we all know is weaker competition than he will face in January. So, I am still taking one for the team and not watching live. It’s my contribution to the team. 😉

    • Yep, we had him last year but he’s a force this year. The amount of growth he’s made in a year’s time (and thankfully he didn’t hit the portal) is astounding. I know that the game evolved from the two guards, two forwards, one center model from the 80s, but having someone under the basket who can rebound, block, and score is something we’ve been lacking for a while. Maybe since Nic Claxton, son of Charles (forgot about that).

  4. I keep saying we will be a legit threat to finish strong in the SEC if the 3s start falling. If the 3s stay our weak point, then we will probably finish with a losing record in the SEC. Last night they were 50% (11/22) from 3. They keep that up, they are going to be a force in the SEC this year and might make the deepest run in the tourney in decades (which obviously isn’t saying much, but still).

    • I saw somewhere we have a significant amount of scoring in the paint, too. So maybe we can win more than one way. We’ll find out soon.
