A friend with much higher football IQ than me and comes with a pretty unbiased background kinda echoed what I said somewhere here the other day– there is no true number one team, no one or even three that are head and shoulders above the rest of the field. Soooo….it would only make since that I picked the most teams for the Mumme poll than I ever have before.
I agree, but I’m taking the opposite approach. For me to rank a team, they have to be undefeated and have beaten a solid opponent. I’ll also rank a team that has a close loss to an undefeated team, but they have to have played well. So, hypothetically, a previously undefeated team that loses at home to a one-loss team that got embarrassed by a team that just lost to … *checks notes*… Virginia would not get ranked.
