The Road to the Super Bowl Starts in Athens?

Looks like word is getting out. Development, thine name is Kirby Smart.

The Lions drafted a handful of Dawgs, including Ratledge, Dan Jackson, and Dom Lovett. Then there’s this interesting graphic, which shows that’s recruiting and development have become the Georgia Way.

I’m sure the idea of making millions as a teenager is enticing…but it’s hard to argue the idea that you can be developed at a high level and see a future past the college days when you come to Athens. Also, for context:

Kirby Smart has now taken two guys with 0 stars – Dan Jackson and Javon Wims – and gotten them drafted. Maybe in the end, they’ll retire the number 16 in Sanford.

Go Dawgs.

  1. NFL teams see and know players that survive 5 years in UGA program are battle-hardened. Hell even the Falcons took one this year!

  2. How relaxed/prepared is an individual that enters the field of play with their shoes untied….GO DAWGS!!

  3. Shortly after that picture Spurrier’s gators opened a can. The flashback is awful every time I see that picture. Btw Goldberg was with team, that was the height of his WCW fame.
