Thanks to Diego Pavia, Colbie Young will get another year to play.

Some junior college athletes will see their careers extended, at least for now.
The NCAA Division I Board of Directors, composed of university presidents, agreed to a waiver for junior college players that grants them an additional year of eligibility if they are in a similar situation as Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia.
Pavia is suing the NCAA over its eligibility standards, arguing that his junior college playing seasons should not count as part of his four seasons of NCAA eligibility. The NCAA DI Board’s decision came five days after a Tennessee federal court granted Pavia an injunction that prohibits the association from counting his junior college seasons, granting him an additional year of eligibility.

Young played at Lackawanna College in 2021, if you’re wondering, before heading to Miami in 2022. With this, along with the possible transfers of Dane Key and possibly Zachariah Branch from USC and a solid 2025 recruiting class, someone will have plenty of targets to hit in 2025. And that’s not even including Ethan Barbour and Elyiss Williams added to the TE room.
May look enticing enough for Beck to run it back.

Are we even sure Young is going to return in 2025 if his legal case is cleared up?
Unless he transfers, the word is he’s likely to stay at UGA. Better money for an X receiver in college this year than a 5th round draft pick would earn at the next level.
This is so typical of the NCAA. Lose in court fighting an outdated rule, continue fighting it after it’s lost, then retroactively act as if it meant to change the rule all along and promise more changes in the same vein are coming. They’re like an abusive partner.
That said, I’d hate to be a 2-star HS athlete right now. Huge risk of not playing college football next year because there won’t be any room on rosters, even with the scholarship limits raised.
They can go straight to JUCO. Get some seasoning as it won’t count against eligibility. D1 AA’s can throw money at the cupcakes to support the whole thing and next thing you know?
Theres a love story movie being made with a redshirt senior quoting; “My D1 contract gets bought out so I can hold some flavor-of-the-month’s dick in the bus leagues, is that it? Well fuck this fucking game.”
I can hardly wait.
One more year for Stetquavious?
