If you’re in Atlanta and have nothing better to do (note: you will, later that evening) you can see a CFP Playoff Semifinal! I’m not sure if it’s that none of the three fanbases expect to win, expect to lose, or because neither Clemson or Texas want anything to do with a return trip to Atlanta after what happened to them in 2024.
Seriously, this is the result of people emptying their pockets to follow a successful team, and the financial exhaustion that results. Even the Texa$$ fan base has money malaise. Who woulda thunk it?
I dare see we all did, didn’t we? In case you don’t mash the link up above, Sugar Bowl tickets are starting around $250…National Championship game tickets are around $1100.
Don’t they know this is Christmas season?
Ahhh…what if they created a playoff and no one comes? Boise v IU final would get outdrawn in tv ratings by a WNBA scrimmage. And if anyone scoffs at the notion those two could be in the final then what the hell are we doing letting them in?
Only if the WNBA scrimmage has Caitlin Clark and the Cavinder twins…
And they play in their underwear…
Why aren’t the Orange Bowl tickets similarly priced? I’m cheap.
Wait, you mean the majority of college football fans are not human ATMs with infinite financial resources and time to traverse the country 3-4 times to watch this made-for-tv enterprise?
Which works out greed for the greedy bastards running this 3 ring circus, we get to pay for TV to watch this to the end of January.
I’m really curious to see the effect, if any, of less interest in attending all these games. Even the SEC Championship was relatively cheap. I got great tickets at the last minute, and I noticed Texas didn’t seem to show up. Maybe the TV money makes it less important to sell in person tickets?
Bingo
Not only the cost but the convenience. I had SEC tickets but got them last minute so I gave them to a friend who went in my place.
My daughter’s HS won the state championship on Tuesday night and but for her being in the marching band I would have much rather watched that on tv even though the experience was much better than it would have been in a more crowded Dome where I had to sit in an assigned seat.
