Who’s the real UT, a corrections post – Preseason All-SEC Team

So…in my early Saturday stupor I did a real AJC-esque fact check job on some graphics, so consider this a correction post from yesterday’s now-deleted attempt. One thing to point out, this is pulled directly from the SEC’s page on the preseason All-SEC, and it looks like they’re settling the debate on “who is the UT” in the conference.

  1. Thorson is only second team? Is Stetson Bennett’s well known prejudice against Australian punters hold him back? Scandalous.

    • Burnip had nearly double the attempts last year, while Thorson only punted 32 times on the season. Our punt attempts were second lowest in the league, LSU was lowest. Burnip and Thorson’s punting averages were nearly the same, but I don’t think you’re going to hear anyone but Thorson complain about punting attempts being so low. And even if he does, it’s an appreciated snark. 😃

      • I wonder if LSU also had to defend the fewest punts last year, on account of their D being unable to stop anybody.

    • Keeping #92 from being 1st team member isn’t all his fault, it’s not the 40 plus PPG average of UGA football, definitely not the 7.3 YPP average that keeps him on the sideline, that 4th down conversion rate (75%) doesn’t bother him, he’s a “footy” at heart, so kicking inside the twenty is in his game mind, it’s the pure fact UGA football staff won’t scheme to punt in the red zone, sure UGA football has a very successful %, but attempting drop a kick or even punting on 3rd down would have elevated #92 to 1st team status, remember the justin fields thing, that play never happens with #92 attempting to pass off a vegamite sandwich or two….GO DAWGS!!

  2. Alabama is loaded so there is no excuses for the Pac12 guy. There is a reason they wanted our guy from Oregon but settled for the Washington guy. Pac12 all O no D. He loses two and the Bama’s are after his butt. I bet he has a heck of a buyout.

  3. Not defending the vawls by any stretch, I hate em. But Texas is pretty obtuse to think they could come into a conference that has called a founding member “ut” for over 90 years and think they/texas can claim the name.
This is what people mean when they say Texas will try to take over. I already hate those fukers. I hope we feed them a fifty burger.

  4. I never called the Hillbillies UT. I won’t post what I call them but a lot of the words have the same number of letters as PapaBilly Mays has fingers on one hand…

  5. fuck UT..bit i will defend the apalach inbreds over texas

i would to see thorson on a fake punt or drop kick from 50+…i wonder when the last time a drop kick was attempted in the pros or college…when he does it i would love for some Men at Work to blasted after the redcoats get done with their usual celebratory numbers

I don’t know about y’all but i’m ready to start kickin clamson’s ass!
