The new “spokes on the wheel” of the SEC symbol:
While we aren’t supposed to judge a program by football alone, let’s face it, money talks.
Instead of expanding, let’s consider keeping the 16 team conference, but consider this question and let’s hear your thoughts:
Who should be the first two out?
Who would be the next two in?
Have at it in the comments.
judge?
That 1960’s wheel was some WABAC machine right there now…. the current sec wheel ain’t finished with it’s tread expansion…#PASTISGONENOTFORGOTTEN!!
Maybe an AI flaw?
Whoops. Noted and corrected.
In a hypothetical 2-out, 2-in, Vandy is obviously out. I suppose Missouri is the other one out just due to how recently they were added and the brand isn’t as strong as Oklahoma. It feels like you can’t kick Mississippi State out, but Bizarro bulldogs would be on the short list.
My ideal two in would be North Carolina and Virginia: two well-endowed state schools that need some Southern influence. Clemson and FSU should join the Big Twenty and travel to the Pacific Coast a couple of times per year for conference games.
it won’t ever happen, but Texas and OU should be first out. Texas will leave eventually, if it can accomplish its customary task of wrecking whatever conference it belongs to.
They can take Missouri and TAMU, too.
16 to 20 To add, UNC and UVA at least make cultural/geographic sense. But FTMF, too. I am willing to play any of them as non conference games. A 16 to 20+ team leagues is just 2 leagues. Let Texas, ou, Missouri, TAMU Clemson, FSU, Kansas and K state make their own league. Add Colorado and ok state and the Arizona, schools to make 12. Just GTFO of the SEC.
Vandy will never be kicked out of the SEC. Thay are one of the founding members.
Missouri and maybe Texas A&M maybe out and Virginia and North Carolina may be in.
Miss. St. and Vandy have been in too long.
If its about football and money only:
Vandy and MSU out
Clemson and FSU in
Replacing cupcakes with cupcakes. I like it. 😉
Add UNC and UVA. Lose A&M and Auburn because Auburn sucks. We can play Auburn non conference.
Kick Missouri out by ghosting them. Just don’t schedule or return their calls. Have a heart to heart talk with Vandy over dinner. “It’s not you, it’s us. We’ve changed and need to move on.” Pay alimony for a few years.
Bring our idiot cousin Clempsun in. He’s useful for odd chores and takes a good beat down well. Speaking of which, the other addition needs to be….
…the North Avenue Trade School. I know, I know. But we play them anyway, there is a history. They’re inside the footprint. With Vandy and Mizzou gone they will own the cellar exclusively. Nats crushed by us, Bama, Clemson, Texas, OU, LSU, and even the gators is the best must see TV you can imagine. Admit it…wouldn’t you rather watch those games than with Vandy? Let the hate flow…
I dont get the Vandy hate. THEY UPGRADED THEIR CRAPPY HS STADIUM TO ALMOST 45000 seats. More spots for us, plus Nashville is the best road trip in the SEC. WTH do I can about going to a dump like College Station? Columbia? Starkville? Arkansas? Knoxville, Auburn and Tuscaloosa all suck, too, but I guess the bad road trips are part of the deal.
Vandy is a questionable fit in football, true. But they do ok in the other sports, mostly. They’re your nice enough nerd neighbor with a nice car who will drive you around. Let them stay at the party.
Vandy was my first thought, but you make compelling points – they get to stay and let us come in and trash their house every so often. For me, Mizzou has never felt right, and any stadium that boasts a swath of big rocks as a feature – feels very midwest to me. Yeeccchhhh. The point above about Texas trashing whatever conference they are in is well-taken. They have a lot of sway and have the potential to throw their weight around in the worst way and upset the apple cart. Kick ’em out.
Additions: Flarda State and UNC. We’d beat them 9 out of 10 on the gridiron and they do bring a lot of swagger in other sports.
Oh, by all means keep Vandy so we can keep pounding them! Those self righteous passes ducked us twice in 2020. They deserve all shit we can pile on ’em!
Mizzou needs to go first. I used to think Vandy as well, but then I went to the game in Nashville last year. Keep Vandy.
Vandy is a fun road trip. Pretty good odds you won’t lose the game either.
Texas and Oklahoma out. They both think they are 10’s when they are really 4’s. I like the suggestion of Virginia and North Carolina. Maybe Florida could beat one of those two and improve their win/loss record to make us look better.
As far as natural “fit” I’d go with some combination of Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and A&M in favor of Clemson and FSU.
for shits and giggles I’d 86 South Carolina and Miss State, mainly because I don’t care for Sandstorm or cowbells.
Since regions and rivalries are going the way of the dodo bird, add in Michigan and Oregon…if brand exposure and viewership is the new metric of success
The only thing I know for sure is South Carolina should he gone.
Out would be the three of utex, ou and Mizzo. Would add Miami, NC tar heels and Clempson.
If it is the Southeastern Conference add southern and eastern teams. If not just change it to the it Just Matters More Conference.
Sakerlina and Mizzwho can kick rocks. Candy is up on the list, but it’s nice having a traditional conference charter school for cupcake.
I think addition by subtraction is better. Fkn 16 teams is a lot….and we STILL HAVEN’T BEEN TO COLLEGE STATION!
Come on out MudCat for the weekend!! Mexico and Brazil are playing soccer on Kyle Field and the Aggie baseball team is hosting Oregon…it will be nuts out here!
Five out TX, A&M, OK, ARK, MZ
Five in UNC Nerds UVA Clampson Fsu
First 2 out: Florida and Florida. Because FUCK THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS.
Nice to see Flarda gack up the softball game yesterday, even if vs the Death Star in Norman. I was grinning ear to ear. FTMF
South-eastern
Conference.
Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Missouri don’t fit. Arkansas, you’re on the edge. South Carolina, you suck, but geographically, you’re in.
No more teams. Period. Once you’ve joined the ACC, you’re tainted and we don’t want you.
Now get off my lawn you punk kids.
Kick out the Big 12 interlopers. Texass & flunky OU are going to make everyone else think, “Why did we do this with no guarantee of additional revenue?” The AgCult is going to whine incessantly about them. Missouri just doesn’t fit.
Bring in Clemson, UNC, NC State and Virginia Tech.
Of course, I was fine with staying at 12. Is giving up the Auburn & Tennessee games as annual events worth all of this? Nope.
too right. But Clemson? That’s a no from me, dawg. Don’t need them. Don’t want them. Same as FSU. They can join the big 10, the MAC, Region 1AAAAAA. I don’t care.
I can see that, 81. Clemson makes more sense for rivalries than anyone else. Also, they are probably more SEC than ACC. They definitely are the best football brand currently not in a Power 2.
True, Clemson does make sense in many respects. And they are the best available non-aligned brand. But, sometimes rage should be considered. Much like Khan at the end of The Wrath of Khan, I simply refer you to Melville as to my feelings about Clemson: “From hell’s heart I stab at thee; for hate’s sake I spit my last breath at thee.”
Yes, I may have anger issues. But FTMF. They need us, we don’t need them. Why help them? Petty? Perhaps. Hell no.🙂😉🤣
I was just answering the question. I don’t want the Greater Anderson Cow College or the Florida State College for Women in the SEC.
testify!🤣
In my opinion the question is all wong.
The question is given Texas is the Yoko Ono of college programs, which teams will be the first to leaave the SEC?
UGA, UF, USCe, striking up a deal with Clempson, FSU, UNC to create a deal with few mouths to feed? Maybe a few more ACC schools? Auburn pulls a A&M to get away from their narcissist cross state rival?
But to answer the question I’d back out teams in the order of who most recently joined. Texas, OU then A&M Mizzou.
I fucking hate it. The 92 expansion should have been FSU and Clemson. The result: A fantastic regional conference with tons of natural rivalries with no need to add a bunch of TV market misfits. I am never counting UT or OU as actual SEC members. #FTMF
