Wednesday Wondering: Hidden Talents

This kid could make a fortune working for an outfitter that specializes in turkey hunting.

So, for today’s Wondering, what’s your hidden talent, Refugees? Mine, at least that’s been suppressed for some three decades, was that I was a top flight saxophonist back in the day.

Don’t hate the player, hate the game. Circa 1993, so long ago that I’m confident you wouldn’t recognize me today, anyway. And, no, I’m not the Tech dude. He was my high school bandmate who happened to become the Drum Major for the Tech “band”.

Aside from musical talent, I do dabble in writing from time to time (sarcasm), and have a unique ability to win over audiences when I’m doing presentations and lectures in my profession. Seriously, when you work in education, nothing is more grossly oppressive than another professional development, yet people beg me to come back and provide more after I’m gone. I don’t know how I do it, yet I’m glad I possess it.

So how’s about you…what’s your talent?

  1. Lately, mine has been bitching about the state of college football. I appear to be very good at complaining, and I came by it honestly, I guess that I am in the “get off my lawn” crowd now.

  2. I can judge speed without a stopwatch. When athletes run the 40 by themselves I am usually +/- .02 and always +/-.05. A really good skill to have when selecting rec league flag or tackle football players. I can also judge single car qualifying at racetracks and get within 6-8 spots of where the car will be on the grid.

  3. 2nd guessing Bobo’s play calls…”We should have thrown/run there! Dammit Bobo!”

Hover around a 3 index in golf which is good enough to get thrown in with the ex-college players to get beat gross and passed by the high handicappers who always find a way to shoot 6 under net in tournaments.

    COLI expert. IYKYK.

  4. I can run like the wind blows. I am world class at ping pong and I am a really good shrimp boat captain. I also have a knack for being at the right place at the right time.

  5. I excel at taking my bow hiking. Every September I take my bow to Colorado and give it a personal tour of the mountains. We’ve been on miles and miles of trails together. It has seen Wyoming once too.
