It’s the slow season, and, to be honest, it’s hard as hell to generate content right about now. So, as I do from time to time, I’ll put this out there to y’all who are still hanging around: what type of content would you like more of, less of, and are y’all still with us? Haven’t heard from some of the regulars in quite some time.
Happy Wednesday, everyone, and let us know in the comments.
Dude, I don’t care what y’all post. I’m very thankful y’all have kept it going since the Senator’s passing. As long as it doesn’t get over the top political, I’m here until I die. We are playing with house money now. I appreciate what y’all do.
Amen!
It is definitely the slow season but you guys are doing a great job with content, all things considered. I appreciate you. I am always up for a Dammit Bobo post, word on spring practice (if Kirby would let us know anything), and otherwise any CFB news out there.
😀 Dammit Bobo posts are undefeated.
I like the spring sports commentary as well.
There are old games on Youtube that might be fun to dissect. You can even find the 1929 inaugural game at Sanford Stadium where Vernon “Catfish” Smith scored all 15 points in a 15-0 beating of Yale.
I typically am defending Bobo, but I enjoy the Damn It Bobo posts, as well. I truly believe if he didn’t have a name that rhymes with Dodo he wouldn’t get nearly as much grief as he does…lol.
Here’s to Damn It Bobo posts not going the way of the Dodo bird!
I rarely miss a day. The blog is a great mixture of stories about the team, position groups, recruits, coaches, players from the past, other sec schools, cfb overall, schadenfreude (preferably other schools), and lately a mix of other sports at UGA. What’s not to love? I usually hit the ‘like’ button as a small gesture of appreciation. One post per day is adequate during the slow season. You do great work. Please keep it up.
I don’t comment as much in the “OFF” season but I do appreciate all you do! The posts are good and I wouldn’t miss a day as JDJ wouldn’t.
In the meantime as a baseball season ticket holder for 21 years who got screwed, what the heck should I think of the huge ups and downs of this team? An inquiring mind wants to know. Thanks for all you guys do!!!
Don’t sweat that engagement seems to be down. It’s the slow season, but we’re all still checking in, even if we aren’t commenting as regularly. You’re doing a great job with content for this time of year, so don’t stress about it. G Day will provide a little B12 shot to get us through the Spring, then before you know it, everyone will report for summer/fall camp, the Athens-Clarke County PD will begin their roadside fundraising campaign, and we’ll be off and running.
B12? It depends on how much vitamin E JP can get his hands on.
Have never commented but I look at the post very day. I like reading what is posted and I appreciate the time and effort you put into it.
I’m still here. Took a hiatus that ended up being a lot longer than I meant it to be and feel kind of bad about it.
That loss to Ole Piss left such a bad taste in my mouth that I couldn’t even think about football for a while much less talk about it. It dawned on me last week that I hadn’t been by here in months and that won’t do.
I remember innthe early days when Refugees was trying to find its legs and Otis was handling it all by himself it got to around this time of year or maybe it was about May and he decided to do some non sports related but non political posts. He did one on old sayings or idioms that to this day is one of my favorite posts ever here.
Most of us here are Gen Xers I believe and remember what things were like before the internet and any number of other changes. I say that to say we have a lot in common. What do the Refugees like to do besides watch sports? Im an outdoorsman. I love to hunt and fish and camp and am fired up about turkey season aka Christmas innthe Spring Time. That could be something. Music. I know a lot of us are music fans. Im an amateur musician and catterwauler and am listening to music pretty much all the time. I love turning people on to good music. There’s two ideas. No doubt I’ll come up with more if I think about it a little.
Music is always a good topic since everyone has an opinion on it. Even those of us who have bad taste in it.
I second Cooley and bulldogbry.
Music is always a good conversation starter. Love music and am an amateur musician myself as well.
Like most others here, I definitely experience an off-season lull in comment-section participation, but I visit the site at least once everyday.
Still here. Not going away. I need a DAWG fix on a regular basis. This is where I turn to get that fix. Thanks.
I mean, you could make fun of Auburn some more. God knows there’s an endless supply of material.
But I’m with the others – just grateful for the community. As long as we can vote on the G-Day superstar that we think will disappear, but also have a safe space to say things like ‘Phat Phil’, I’m good.
Hopefully the Diamond Dawgs will give us a deep run into the post season and wind up in Omaha this year. That will give us plenty to talk about for a while.
Still with you!
Carry on….
and, as always…
GO DAWGS!!
I was just thinking the other day how this is a really fallow time of year for CFB news. So don’t sweat it if you’re not finding anything to post about. I’ll echo sentiments others have shared in this thread that I’m most grateful you’ve kept the Senator’s legacy alive – and with your own unique perspectives. The blog may be a tribute but it’s not a copy. So, at the least, you’re several up on the Marvel universe.
Yeah, don’t sweat it. I check in at least a couple of times a day even if I don’t comment. GTP had the hit counter, it was cool to watch it keep going up so maybe tack one on for a little positive reinforcement?
How about some negativity, just to mix it up a little? Maybe…
Your least favorite UGA player?
Least favorite UGA QB?
Worst BBQ?
Worst fried chicken?
Opposing player you hated to see on the field?
Worst play call that wasn’t Mike Bobo related?**
Lots of possibilities. Call it “terrible Tuesdays” or “Fucking Awful Fridays”. Selfishly it sounds like an opportunity for more of he world class snark that I love about this bunch.
Go Dawgs!
**That’s easy: Jim Chaney’s BtB with Isaiah Mckenzie against Vandy.
Quality suggestions…I appreciate it!
JP, Otis, EE, Commish – y’all are doing great work. I check in daily and appreciate you keeping the lamp lit for the rest of us.
I don’t comment every day, but I do read every day and appreciate the work you guys put into keeping the Senator’s legacy alive.
So far as the offseason goes, we can always bitch about the Braves, or talk about music, Athens back in the day, the Masters or other golf related things. As long as we don’t bring back the Playpen I think we’ll all be happy with whatever comes down the pike…
Speaking of the Braves, I’m so pissed off they have lost starting rotation already and that the front office did nothing to address that need in the off season that I am seriously considering not getting BravesVision. What’s the point? They have a solid lineup even without dumbass Profar, but no rotation to compete.
Not going anywhere! Love Refugees every day. I’m a boomer so l don’t do much computer stuff. I finally found this site and my wife fixed it up for me. I do appreciate all ya’ll do. Just keep on keeping on! Go Dawgs!!!
I don’t comment much but check in every day. We’re all friends here, it seems. Sometimes friends go for a while without speaking and then pick right up where they left off as if they just talked the day before. This is like that.
Still lurking. This AL.com piece on Tuberville’s idiotic proposal to fix NIL and transfers, plus his overall lack of understanding of cfb & politics, is worth a post. If these are the people “doing something” then prepare to be underwhelmed. But it’s good for a chuckle.

Doh!

He’s dumber than a box of rocks.
That comment is an affront to boxes of rocks everywhere!
I stop in most days.
I’m here and would like to see more musical palette cleansers. I also like the occasional comments on the Spring sports.
Over the next few down months how about more “best/favorite” posts? Give an opinion with details why and let us have at it.
Best beer
Best bourbon
Best RB
Best beach
Favorite car
Favorite announcer (after Munson)
Etc……
Or make a bracket for all of these and we vote till we find the favorite.
Don’t sweat the decrease in daily visits. This is still the go to site for many of us, but we realize it’s the slow season. I think it has been well done for the off-season. I check the site every day, and it’s the only blog I visit and the only blog I’ve ever commented on. I realize it’ll be slower until August or so, and that’s fine with me. Thanks for keeping it up!
Two points…
1. Thanks for doing this
2. gators eat boogers
bonus point…
fuck the nerds
Thanks for keeping this going. My only request is no posts about politics unless it’s to make fun of Tubberville.
Some of you guys that served in the military, it would be great to hear some of your stories while serving. I’m sure there are some doozies out there. I never served and that’s probably a good thing because I probably wouldn’t be here today. I guess they gave me a pass since I had an uncle killed in Korea and an uncle that served in the marines.
Still stop in at least once a day. I usually respond less in the off season not as a result of anything done here.
I certainly appreciate the efforts to keep the Senator’s labor of love alive and community a way to carry on. This is not a copy of his site. I mean that in the best possible way.
As for content suggestions anything not political is fair game. Any good news on all UGA sports teams are enjoyable.
Always open to enjoy negative stories about our rivals or teams we hate which covers the entire SEC, Clemson and most of the b10.
I would certainly read any column on the latest what is CFB actually going to look like in ten years. There seems to be a few critical mass items occurring around 2030 which isn’t that far away now.
When in doubt a simple update like Auburn football still sucks and a FTMF to the handbags never gets old. Keep up the great work I’ve never felt there’s a lack of interesting content here. Once Gday is over and QBR results analyzed it’s a slog till fall practice.
What everyone else has said from me, too. But right now I need to go buy some Vitamin E.
Along with everything UGA, I always enjoy topics about vacation spots, food, music, and current events that aren’t political. One suggestion for topics, space them out on days where you’ve got multiple topics to offer. My simple brain can only process about 2 topics at once, so commenting will be less frequent from me (which could be a good thing😂) when there’s more than that posted at once. Others could feel the same. Please don’t take that as a criticism though. I’m very grateful to have anything new to digest so multiple topics is still a good problem to have. As always, thank you very much for the time and effort put into this blog!!
“Hatin’ has no bye week”
Always a good time making fun of our rivals.
How about a post with UGA related vanity plates? I’d post a pic of mine. I’d like to know if the guy in Gulfport, MS that has what I wanted is a reader here.
“BRNSTRFSH” is probably a coincidence. But it is Mississippi so… Who knows?
Sorry…was driving my truck and noting that Auburn sucks so late to comment that you guys are doing a terrific job. Every bit as good as the Senator except for the insights he must have been getting fed from an insider at B-M from time to time.
