Votes from The Peanut Gallery: Your Week Six Mumme Poll Spectacular

In honor of Peanut Phillips, this week’s Mumme Poll is a reminder that the group here has constantly voted and selected what we’ve known all along: Georgia is Number 1.

It’s been that way for several weeks, although it hasn’t been in the AP and Coaches Polls.

You can keep the streak alive by voting here: MASH HERE.

As a quick recap of where we landed after cheating our way to a win in Tuscaloosa, here’s the AP and Coaches Polls:

There should be a case study in how Alabama can lose games and not move in polls, which happened in the CFP last year despite getting destroyed by Georgia in the SECCG.

Meanwhile, two ACC teams feel from grace – Duke and Pitt – but a new ACC contender emerges – Wake Forest and SMU. And speaking of falling from grace, Oregon dropped out of the AP poll, while USC remains in it’s usual ranking in the teens. Mind you, the Trojan Whores Horse has narrowly beaten Rutgers, Washington, and Penn State. Yes, they have six wins…but against who, exactly?

Georgia’s shaping up to have a gritty fight to end the season, facing three really good mobile quarterbacks as they will face Ole Miss, Missouri, and South Carolina in consecutive games (you could add Philo and Florida in there, if you like) when they see Chambliss, Simmons, and Sellers. Georgia showed they can contain mobile quarterbacks on Saturday night against Russell, but can we do it consecutively in a stretch of key games?

And frankly, Texas loses to an unranked team and only drops six spots in the AP poll…Alabama fans thinks there’s bias towards Georgia? Please. Narrow victories against Ohio State and Tennessee are propping them up, but they face four ranked teams – Missouri, Mississippi State, LSU, and Ole Miss – in consecutive weeks…with their lack of discipline and deficiencies, I foresee Texas dropping another game, if not several, before the season’s over.

But they face Florida this weekend, which is the most hilarious barometric rise and fall of a team in the span of just fourteen days – from 8th ranked two weeks ago to dropping completely out by this week. Couldn’t happen to a better bunch, if you ask me.

  1. Ahh, the poll. I went with Gus at Fox, but with a caveat. He’s like when you discovered the skycast– it’s fresh, new, exciting- but after a while I need to go back to something familiar at least until I get sick of that all over again.

      • My Skycast still have Fowler and Herbstreit. I should’ve switched to radio.

As for the preferred announcers, I picked Sean McDonough and Greg McIllroy, but Gus is fine as is Tess/Jess. Anybody but Fowler’s smug ass and Herbstreit’s anti-Georgia vitriol. They both suck.

Personally, I’d love to have Gary and Ness. Gary never bothered me and was always fair with the commentary.

    • Always curious concerning the voters and who is really doing the voting, plus, how much time is spent on the sausage making process…..could GAS less, mostly cause these supposed voters are generally wrong, most of the generally time, generally speaking, of courese…GO DAWGS!!

  2. I wish Todd Blackledge was doing the SEC. I know I’m not supposed to like him because he beat us in the Sugar, but I still like him.

    • Todd is my favorite of those working now. I can separate college and pro careers. He’s been a class act enjoying listening to him call a game.

      • Agree. Todd Blackledge is the best.

I miss his restaurant reviews from college towns.

Herbie and Fowler can’t hold a candle to Todd.

They are small men who can’t resist the temptation to use their positions to bias fan (and the dip-shits committee’s) opinions.

They should both be doing high school ball on the local radio show in Vermont or Canada.

        Shuttup, Chris..

        Shuttup Herbstreit.

        • In the middle of rolling out a STFU! button on your remote control, the interesting component of this button, the ongoing accumulation of how many peeps use the STFU! button, it gits displayed by said person’s name, plus likeness…(the hidden assist turbo button is available for those who attempt to hide or live in deenile) there is no hiding from the STFU! button….GO DAWGS!!

  3. I changed my arbitrary criteria this week. I only voted for undefeated teams who have beaten a ranked opponent. UGA, Texas Tech, UCLA.

  4. The next time College Game Day comes to Athens, Georgia should run a continuous video clip of Herbie being sacked twice by Mitch Davis..Or…his last pass attempt against Georgia in the ’93 Citrus Bowl where Eric Zeier and the Georgia Bulldogs beat him and the bucknuts.

Put it on the Jumbotron and play it for the whole GameDay broadcast.

  5. For the survey question I would prefer Todd Blackledge and Tessitore or even Nessler. I haven’t watched him this year with the new broadcast team. Cant’ stand Herbie and Fowler.

  6. I used to have a little faith in Herbie and his knowledge and POV. But he and Fowler’s love affair orgasms with Alabama Saturday night made me want to puke. Fowler was the worst I’ve ever seen.

  7. Bama didn’t move because we all know that the game was stolen from them by the refs. In fact, I’d be curious to see how the individual voters voted, because I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them voted Bama ahead of Georgia.

    • Every voter who cast a vote had Georgia #1 except for four:

Alex Taylor (Wyoming) and Creg Stephenson (AL.com) had Miami 1, Georgia 2.

Brian Howell of On3 had Notre Dame 1, Georgia 2

Bob Ballou of CBS Austin had Indiana 1, Miami 2, and Georgia 3.

I guess those wins over Northwestern, Nebraska. and Wake Forest all mean more to old Bob than a win over the #6 team in the nation and another team that just upset the #1.

  8. “There should be a case study in how Alabama can lose games and not move in polls”

Inertia, the most powerful force in the universe is why Alabama keeps getting some consideration that they haven’t truly earned. It’s also part of the reason we keep electing the same old people over and over.

  9. Well, if the refs are in our corner this year….I guess we can all celebrate cause they will break their necks to keep us in. I mean we seen them do it for Bama plenty of times. I do not care about some moral soap box either. This is football, not some moral dilemma where we have to care about doing the right thing like suspending players.
