Here’s your thought for the day:
The comments are lit up with a host of Notre Dame and Texass, alongside LSU. Honestly, as much as I detest them, I do believe that Marcus Freeman has quietly created a talent juggernaut in South Bend and has the horses and the easy schedule to do very well this year, though winning it all would go a long way to prove that all that talent will actually translate into results, and not a glorified undefeated season that ends in a CFP loss.
Yes, Texas is overrated, though I don’t know if it’s by their own fans or by the press fawning over Archduke and the Texas “brand”, but, like Notre Dame, it’s hard to ignore all that talent Sarkisian has acquired has to turn into success…eventually. Maybe this is the year. Maybe Manning really had to develop. They don’t have Georgia on the schedule this year, so they have that going for them, I guess.
LSU? Heck, even Kiffin is telling people to temper their expectations, and I’m not sure they are overrated as much as they are overcovered, thanks to Joey Freshwater’s own narcissism and campus exploits.
Me? I think the most overrated team is the one that constantly has had top flight recruiting classes, all the talent in the world, then suddenly wilt under the slightest big game pressure:

Lanning’s biggest win thus far was against Penn State last year, and we know how Penn State actually turned out, so it wasn’t that big of a deal, now, was it? I’ve still yet to see Oregon translate into a true, formidable threat, and for their history of great quarterbacks, their options are a guy who couldn’t get drafted and Dylan Raiola. Yikes.
So how about you…who is the most overrated team heading in to the 2026 season?
Over the last 30 years – Notre Dame.
Over the last 20 years…Texas. How many times have they been “back” since 2005?
Oregon will become the new Pedo State if they don’t make a deep run in the playoffs this season. They are again loaded with talent.
I want to say Notre Dame however looking at their current talent compared to their embarrassingly soft schedule. They’re already in this year’s playoffs.
Did Sark amass that talent or did Texas oil money desperate for a championship amass that talent with NIL?
I do agree with Oregon as the overrated bunch. They looked like a high school team when we applied BtA at MBS in 2022. They have gotten their pants pulled down multiple times now by Indiana (whose roster shouldn’t be able to compete – yeah, I said it). I would be just fine with Dan Lanning staying on the west coast if Kirby decided he had enough of the college game or coaching in general.
For real overrated … it starts and stops with Texas A&M. The media said Jimbo Fisher and the A&M collective were going to take over college football. Now, it’s the same with Elko (who I don’t believe is that good of an in game coach either).
The Aggies had a very favorable schedule last season. I’m interested in seeing what happens this season.
During a job interview when very young I was asked what would my ideal job be? After little thought I said paid to never show up. Jimbo got that job I had always wanted.
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say Bama. They drop 3 in the regular season this year and don’t sniff the playoff
Just as long as one of those three is to us – by three touchdowns.
From your lips to God’s ears.
For this year only… fsu ranked at #28 with a 6-7 season. Since UGA spanked that ass 63-3 they have been terrible. CKS broke them, their pride and tradition. They will be lucky to win four games this season. 6-7 I think not. 4-8 at best. Living in the land of the noles I say FTMF! Overrated.
How long will they hang with their coach? His buy out must be huge.
