Thursday Afternoon Testing – Continuing to Tinker to Rid the Gremlins from GTPR

Happy Thursday afternoon, scamps. We are continuing with some experimentation to rectify the posting, commenting, and viewing capabilities of the site. Today’s experiment, I exported the site over to my free WordPress site to see how exporting works. What happens is you’ll see the GTP Refugees content (saved yesterday) with preserved comments and content, but on a mirror site. Here’s what I’m testing today:

  1. Readability – does the page read and present like it “used to” (pre-September) or in a familiar interface from your previous experiences?
  2. Commenting – can you comment and see comments more easily than on the current GTP Refugees site?
  3. “Liking” – can you like posts and comments more easily?

I’ve taken the most recent post on Napier’s confident vote and put it at the top of the mirror page, feel free to comment and let me know your thoughts.

While I know yesterday’s experiment generated a lot of excitement and brought back some familiar faces we haven’t seen commenting in a while, this is a work in progress and not just a switch-flipping endeavor. But trust we’re on the mother, and we’re working to get things back to normal.

  1. The mirror site looks different but still nice, and works well, Here, I have to refresh to see my comment.

  2. I’m guessing there’s supposed to be more bells and whistles on the mirror site?

    • Not really. To be honest, the troubles some of our loyal and former GTP holdovers have been having with commenting and liking is the main goal for adjustments. On the posting end for contributors, the Twitter embeds and other functions that used to be easy with writing content has suddenly gotten strange, too. The best bell and whistle we can have is to post and have fun with user ease…that’s the goal anyway.

  3. I used to be able to go to directly to GTP Refugees and comment. Now I have to go to WordPress, find GTP Refugees, then comment. It may not be a big deal once I get used to it however. Plus, my comments aren’t that great!

  4. The original page/site has always worked fairly well for me. There’s been a quirk or two here and there, but not recently. The weirdest thing about it is that the banner is a cartoon image of the picture.
