One of the Greatest Ever Played

What if I told you there was a great game, where the conference championship, a National Championship, nor a rivalry was played, but was one of the greatest games ever played, Keith Marshall. Todd Gurley. Aaron Murray. Chris Conley, Michael Bennett. Zach Mettenberger. Odell Beckham Jr. Leonard Floyd. Jarvis Landry.

It wasn’t important in the long run, but damn, it was a great game. One of the best of the Richt era. Seeing Jordan Jenkins going ass over tea kettle on the final play…chef’s kiss.

Go Dawgs.

  1. That and the SC game were Aaron Murray’s biggest moments. To bad that 2013 team started dropping everywhere after that.

    • One of the things I remember about that SC game is Justin Scott Wesley was so fast that on a touchdown he made the db look like he gave up on the play. The guy didn’t. He just couldn’t stay in frame with JSW. What could have been.

  2. It’s the best game I’ve ever witnessed in Sanford. Who knows what that team accomplishes if the Tennessee game had been in Athens rather than that Kneeland cow pasture?

Remember we lost TG3II in that game as well until Florida.

    • I was at Kneeland that afternoon, it was the most exciting win I’ve witnessed while also quickly after the game feeling a sense that the season was lost.

  3. What a roster. I love Coach MR but can you imagine what Kirby might have done with that roster. Studs ever where. Offense and Defense.

    • Most of the studs on offense would be gone for the season the next week. Murray himself would be gone late in the season.

  4. What I remember was the crowd noise. It was loud all day and extremely loud in the final quarter. Definitely one of my absolute favorite home games.

  5. The crowd definitely played a part. I was hoarse the next day but happy.

  6. I haven’t heard the expression “ass over tea kettle” since before my dad died. And that was over 30 years ago. That gave me a chuckle. Thanks.

  7. One of the loudest Sanford Stadium experiences of my life. Such a great game. So much talent on that field… but man, even though we won at UT, we lost the war with so many injuries.
