Noodling around on the interwebs this afternoon and I get over to the Twitter and @MrCW has made his playoff prediction today…

Needless to say, he’s getting roasted in the comments. Feel free to add fuel to the fire.

  1. Oh Tony! Why don’t you do some thinking? FSU at 4? When did you make this list?

    • He is saying he believes FSU still wins the ACC … that’s possible. Whether FSU is rated higher than the Big 12 champion at season’s end is a completely different question.

      • that is a very fair point, full of nuance and correctness. And it exposes a flaw in the system. The CFP in some form came about because the SEC was dominating the BCS, bad enough if you’re a program where It Just Means Less, but when TWO SEC teams were in? Unbearable. So 4 teams it is. And the SEC dominated that. Second verse, same as the first, but TWO SEC TEAMS GOT IN (quelle horror) AND PLAYED FOR THE TITLE? AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN? Suddenly Giving Teams A Chance, and Making Other Conferences Relevant became important.

        I don’t know if 3, or 4 (!!!) SEC teams will make the 12 team CFP semis. But if it happens, the Midwest, southwest and out west will lose their minds. The wear and tear of 3 or 4 rounds will cause lesser teams to advance. Who wants to see that? In the meantime, it will be a mess, the SEC will dominate, and the Big 10 will formulate another new plan that will also suck because the SEC is just better.

        • The B1G is eventually going to say playoff spots should be allocated based on TV contract size. That’s the only way they get more on a year to year basis.

  2. F$U @ #3, we all know he ain’t the sharpest knife in the drawer, but dayuuum, has he completely gone off the rails. No way in hell is Mercenary U slotting in @ #3.

    • If they win the Almost Competitive Conference and are higher rated than the Big 12 champion and the highest Group of 5 champion, they will be the 3 seed and get a bye.

      • I hear you but IF is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. FSU is already looking up at Tech.

        • Understanding, anyone that has a keyboard can and will throw whut ever shit they can at the wall, the friggin’ season has just barely gotten underway, let the thing play out, lets talk in December, no fucking bracket for me, fabris pool is where I do all my free stylin’…GO DAWGS!!

        • The ACC is only getting one team in. I have no idea who that may be, but FSU can still be that team.

          I don’t think Mr. CW is right about this, by the way.

  4. Sooo…tech could win the ACC, lose to us (67-0 sounds about right) during the regular season, make the playoffs, then lose to us again in a Florida Stateish seal clubbing playoff game?

    Maybe there’s a silver lining to this playoff thing after all.

  5. I’m surprised at the reactions to MCW’s predictions. Shame on anyone who expected something worth reading from Tony. That ship sailed many years ago and is not coming back.
