  1. Would really like to see a return of the dawgbones on helmets. They look badass to me and help identify guys that are making plays. But, if Kirby wanted them, we’d already have them.

    • I agree on both points. I also liked the inclusion of the black bones for academics. I’m not aware of any team that ever did that.

  2. Personally, I like the clean look and the philosophy that every player is equally important to the team. Looking at OSU helmets and all those stickers look silky to me and also seems like a waste of time for staff to recreate every game.

  3. I know in high school we used them more as a motivating tool. Not sure how much that would work in today’s college game. Today NIL money surpasses the motivational factor of bones and stars.

    • So maybe we go with dollar signs instead of bones. The more $s you earn, the more NIL money.

    • You don’t think an Ohio State or Florida State player is proud of how many helmet stickers they have on their helmet? I would absolutely say yes.

Does it translate to NIL? Don’t know and don’t care.

  4. I like the bones. Every player on the team gets one when they win. Players get them for their performance in games and in practice. I love the black bones and what they represented – doing something good in the academic classroom.

Bama didn’t do it, so Kirby doesn’t think it’s valuable. It’s not coming back, but that doesn’t mean they were a negative.

In a fan’s mind, it tells you volumes about what the coaches think of the player.

We can say all we want about Ohio State, but the Buckeye stickers on the helmet are part of their helmet just as the tomahawks are on the FSU helmet.

    I say bring them back.

  5. Can we get an extra-double gold star bone for the highest QBR during GDay?

  6. Stars on the back. Bones on the front (Dooley did this) for game changing plays – Lindsey Scott, Haynes at UT, Kelee Ringo etc.

  7. A fan of the Dawg bones. If you do it, it has to be unique to your team. Always liked them on helmets. Just another tradition to set CFB apart from the NFL. Those differences seem to be dwindling too quickly for my tastes.
