It’s almost like the CFP expansion was for Notre Dame alone. Consider that they won’t be a top 4 seed ever, unless they join a conference, and they can schedule an automatic bid every year if they like.
But they do play Tech, which if you base it off the Nerds socials, will be the national championship game this year all by itself.

Was it, though? I’ll admit, Elko isn’t nearly as hateable as Fisher, but the cult is still as annoying as ever. It doesn’t bother me to see them lose, even if it was to ND.

Now that they have come away with the turnip after their barnyard fight with TAMU, that schedule of theirs is only slightly more daunting than playing against air. Should they lose even one game it should be an automatic disqualification from the playoffs (spoiler alert…it won’t).
Sad to see where beating a team that was 7-6 last year, fired their overpaid coach and is breaking in a new coach is enough to proclaim a team a playoff contender. It seems that Notre Dame is ALWAYS a playoff contender in the eyes of the sports media, no matter how average or mediocre they actually are.
I blame the ACC for the Irish’s attitude. The ACC let them play a “conference” schedule in 2020 during the covid year to make them eligible for a playoff spot with no conditions for the ACC. The next year, the Irish said, see’ya dudes, it’s been fun, but not too fun!!
