Look Who’s Missing

The Bulldog social media team released the 2024 highlight video.

Call it petty, call it a sign of something bigger we’ll never know, but it’s not a good look.

The music selection is interesting too…Smells Like Teen Spirit as a slow ballad seems to be suggesting the youth is the future of the team?

  1. Advice to whoever is dating/married to the person who put that together: do not under any circumstance break up with them.

  2. Yeah, as a GenX child of divorce looking to spend a princely sum on Fall entertainment, channeling Kurt Cobain might not pull me back to the Saturday Afternoons that the WorldWideLeader wrecked. When I load up on guns nowadays it ain’t for a cool video montage (it’s more like TRT gear and lots of Kettlebell Clean & Presses – some how the less I can do creates a bigger puddle of sweat SAD). Cash Jones cooked off the fireworks so there’s that.

  3. Pretty lame, even if none of us know what happened behind the curtain. Wish we’d be classier than this though.

  4. Who was our quaterback last season? I don’t remember.

Seriously, that is some petty bullshit. We will probably never know the full story, but this is a bad look from us.

    • The 30 for 30 about Kirby’s Dawgs is going to be EPIC when it comes to the QB room. I’m not a Bobo hater but is Carson Beck the first QB on his watch that regressed? Asking for Joe Cox and Hutson Mason’s development…

        • I’ve always wondered if Fromm somehow lost the locker room in 2018 during the Fields as #2 process. One hears rumors about Fields being told he’d start v Florida (after the LSU loss), then he didn’t, then he bolted. I was struck in 2019, after Fromm unexpectedly declared for the NFL, how few of his returning teammates seemed to care he was leaving. Who knows if any of that is true, but it seems plausible. If “the locker room” felt Fields should have been the QB, and Fromm was pressing (or the staff clung to him), foot dragging might have occurred. We were also hurting for game breakers at WR in 2019, iirc.

Beck’s personality never really seemed magnetic to me. He was patient, he played well when he got his shot, but he seemed like he was putting in his time more than a guy who lived to be a Bulldog. Maybe that is a wrong read, or unfair. I don’t think he was disliked at all, but maybe he wasn’t loved. Stockton seems to be loved, he’s a good old UGA boy. Same with Stetson. Or Nick Chubb. You can come from somewhere else and buy into loving UGA. Nakobe Dean sure did. When your leader is a charismatic talented guy, it matters. Beck was talented, he was appreciated, I don’t know if he was the guy everyone looked to for leadership.

I’m not ripping Beck.He played well for us, he certainly wasn’t disruptive. It’s all just odd to me that he checked out so fast, and nobody in the building seems to be losing any sleep over it.

  5. I have no idea whether this is good or bad. If Carson had quietly gone on to the NFL rather than using a draft declaration to separate from UGA, he would probably get the recognition in that video. Instead, he seemed to act like he didn’t want to be in New Orleans. I’m surprised he didn’t use Morse code to communicate that he was on the sideline against his will.

    Good luck to him.

    • A business associate stopped by the office the other day and we were discussing how it was telling that literally the camera never showed Beck with any of his teammates around him on the sideline and, as far as I can remember, didn’t really show Beck pumping up Gunner or discussing anything with him or helping him dissect what ND was doing like you might assume an injured starter would do with his backup in a huge game. And I agree that he didn’t look entirely thrilled to be there.

  6. for those not on social media…what am i missing that is “missing” from the video?

  7. I’m not sure this is a bad look. Didn’t hurt my feelings. It’s not like others in the video that moved on to the NFL. He moved on to another team. Why promote him as being a Bulldawg. He’s a Hurricane. We’ve all wished him well. Nothing more to see here.

  8. What better way to get to someone who values social media ? How long until Hanna responds?

  9. It was not a great video of the players who stayed even. I miss the videos from the team that produced Awaken the nation. That crew was exceptional.

  10. It is petty of Georgia to leave Beck out. But it was also pretty petty of Beck to first announce for the NFL and then go to Miami on what has been reported as a 3 million dollar deal.
If Beck asked Kirby for that money and the option was either to pay it or look like he did not know what was going on then that is pretty petty too.
I think it was time to move on from Beck and that is not to say that he is not a good QB or even our best option if healthy next year. Beck had a lot of weird body language and his relationship with a “famous” person is not in keeping in line with what Kirby has made the image of this program the last 9 years. Recall his comments after the first Texas game in regards to publicity seeking players/ programs.
I hope Beck has a good season in Miami. I think he was smart to take that amount of money because I do not foresee him doing a lot to improve his draft stock except as it relates to his health in 2025.

  11. Not a Beck hater but does he even come back from that injury and was it worth the Dawgs gambling on it? I know Miami has to gamble every chance the get just to get to 10 wins

  12. Somebody inside has a chance to write a best seller for National Enquirer. I stand with Kirby and his statement “If you don’t want to be here, get the hell out!”
