I’m no fan of targeting, not are many of you. But the penalty is changing, and you wont’ have to wait until the next to play, per new rule changes.
I’ll take it as a change for the better. How do you feel?

So I assume they still have to leave the current game?
This is better but there still needs to be a distinction between flagrant and incidental. When an offensive player lowers his head or body right before contact it should either be on him or not targeting. Laws of physics and all.
Again, remove the targeting rule, enforce the spearing rule.
Seems like a lot of paperwork. Do they have to wear a scarlet “T” on their jersey so the refs know who’s on the clock?…
Absolutely stupid. Gunner going for a last second QB dive over the goal line to win at Auburn or Florida is going to get killed and NO practical punishment to the defender. Just when you wonder if the NCAA can possibly get any dumber they go out of their way to say “Yes…yes we can”.
Agreed. Changing the punishment for a rule you can’t explain doesn’t fix the problem.
Either remove the Targeting Rule entirely or just make it a regular personal foul (which ejects a player if they get a 2nd personal foul during the same game).
