What a ride this has been so far, hopefully more Championships to come. He’s every bit the coach I hoped GA would hire ever since Dooley retired & they mistakenly passed over Erk. So many years you’d watch other programs reach the promised land & wonder why not us. No more. Kirby, thank you coach for your energy, recruiting & abilities to run a major program in this manner, without the warts of some other successful coaches, Paterno, Jimbo, Corch, Superior just to name a few. I’ve gone from complaining about losing close games under Richt where we underperformed, to complaining about winning close games under Kirby where we didn’t smoke the opponent. 😀

This is so true. What a luxury. We kick the #1 team’s ass to a degree even though our QB played like ass. BTW, would there be that much of a drop off to Gunner Stockton? Would he make better decisions on his throws? Just seems like there have been an abundance of ill advised passes by Beck this season.
I really want to go back and watch the game, because I don’t think Beck played as poorly as everyone is saying. How many passes hit our receivers in the hands and were dropped? And not all of the INTs were Beck’s fault. Luckie tipped a catchable ball and it was picked off. And I don’t know what to think of the one to Arian that was picked and started the group tantrum. Did Beck expect Arian to cut to the outside? Was it really PI? Who knows? What I do know is that Beck stepped up at the end and helped seal the win. His pass to Arian over the middle in the 4th was huge, and his scramble while ugly kept the drive alive.

I’d put the Luckie INT on Beck still. That ball was high and hot. Not a real catchable ball. But, I am not going to skewer Beck for that. The pass wasn’t where he wanted it.
There were numerous drops in that game though as well as previous games. Beck has made some bad decisions (MSU endzone INT), but he is still a good QB and the best option to win games. It is hard to throw every pass in the perfect spot. Sometimes it being in the slightly wrong place results in a very bad result like the end of the Bama game. I will say on that play he has to miss high or long on that throw and not short. Colbie Young didn’t help him with a weak effort on the ball, but you have to err long or high on that jump ball to your big receiver.
Carson is the right guy.
