If you’ve been torturing yourself watching the Hoop Dawgs the past ten or so games, you’ve watched a season of hope and promise go up in smoke, mostly in the second half of the game.
Well, they finally broke the curse last night, courtesy of the Handbags. The #3 ranked Handbags.

The students waited the requested 90 seconds after games’ conclusion prior to storming the court. They were reminded by a familiar face that exuberance sometimes comes at a cost.

And they say Kirby doesn’t care about law and order.
I think Blue Cain said it best:
Go Dawgs!
FTMF Ditch Lizards!!!
Looked like another second half collapse with about 2 minutes left, but they hung on for dear life! I knew the Dawgs wouldn’t shoot 70% in the second half, but dear lord the bad turnovers!
The ball handling is what is going to do them in eventually, but I’m guessing last night may have put them back on the right side of the bubble.
The dumb and/or lazy passes were driving me crazy.
When UGA basketball’s opposition has better than average guard play, UGA finds a way to make their guards looooook really friggin’ good….I’ll takes our bigs vs theirs and see what the staff can do, hear me now and listen to me later, UGA hoops team is good, just not in this basketball conference, this year…GO DAWGS!!
Turnovers and poor free throw shooting down the stretch has made watching Georgia basketball damn near impossible over the years. I’d much rather lack the talent to compete than the mental toughness to beat equally talented teams.
Blue Cain is now on record saying one of the required oaths for being a DGD.
What is this Blue Cain you speak of, I have heard his words of iron, I have seen his shot is deadly, his FU distain is strong….GO DAWGS!!
Away games at Texas and South Carolina and close with Vandy at home … if this team can get to the magic number of 20 some way including the SEC tournament, I think they are in the dance as a 10 or 11 seed.
Always great to beat the Gators! Lots of heart to give up the huge lead and then calmly pull away again. Blue Cain put the dagger in them!
No…not getting sucked into this. Trying to get me all excited and then will either miss the dance or get run badly in the first round. Just…No.
Sadly, our basketball program’s poverty history makes this one of the biggest wins ever. Getting to the Final Four, 1990 SEC over LSU and the Tornado Title all rank above it but can anyone think of sliding a bigger win in there (that’s what she said)? Also, Kirby and Josh Brooks coaching the students up on Court Storming is really an all time “Chef’s Kiss.”
Blue Cain had no interest in touching the ball all night and then calmly strikes a beautiful dagger. For sure I thought they were going to make a different kind of history (biggest comeback allowed on home court), with Demary doing his typical end of game turnovers and horrendous ball protection (it’s legal to dribble below your shoulders, Silas!). But that’s a hell of a win and hopefully it’s not a blip in the annual Mike White Team Fade Parade. Let’s see how they handle this in Austin on Saturday and if they can avoid the bad loss at the end of the year. Not over yet, but that was a fun one.
Fuck Florida indeed!
