First, I got blocked by the insufferable Tim Brando on Twitter. He was whining that Sankey refused to play SEC games on Friday nights. I replied (basically) “media hack upset because SEC refuses to provide more product for media to make money.” He blocked me. Last shot by me was maybe he should take a grammar class and learn how to use a comma. C’est le guerre. 𤣠That’s a solid day in my book on its own.
(I can’t link it because he blocked me, and I’m too dumb to include screenshots)
Next, however, a tweet I made was liked and quote tweeted by UGA tennis great Manny Diaz. He approved of my thought the NCAA tennis championships should always be in Athens.

A pox on our former AD for his lack of urgency in that respect.
The right people dislike me, the right people approve. Can’t beat that. And I’m just staying loose for football season.
Brando is Charmin-soft. He blocks more people than Dikembe Mutumbo.
I think Brando’s initial complaint about Sankey refusing to schedule Friday games (as if Sankey considered himself and the SEC above such things) was pretty stupid of Brando. Is anyone in the SEC (ADs, presidents, coaches, players, fan bases) clamoring for Friday Night SEC? Who wants to fight Friday traffic going through Atlanta to see a UGA game? Not this boy.
Do you want do try to get to any other SEC school for a Friday game? Does anyone? Coaches hate the short prep week. Nagging injuries don’t heal.
If the big Integer wants that, fine. FTMF. We aren’t the MAC, or the Mountain West.
I think it was the unbridled arrogance layered into his opinion that got my attention. , Sometimes you just have to let a MF know he’s gone too far. Bro really seemed to go nuclear. It’s NBD to irritate a thin skinned talking head, but I don’t get why they all think they’re opinions are so special. Media people seem especially bad in this respect.
Otoh, it was really cool to have Manny Diaz approve (not exactly going out in a limb by agreeing, but still). I’m old enough to remember when Manny was the big dog, and Coach Magill (the greatest Bulldog ever) was just getting the monster built.
An interesting couple of days

Here in Georgia, high school football is THE most important sport to a lot of people. It wouldn’t be in UGA’s interest to force their alumni and fans to have to choose between them.
Why do all the media people seem to think “College football is super popular. Let’s try and exploit it for more money by ruining every tradition that makes people love it!”
They think they can do all these things, and the core constituency won’t ever flinch. I have some doubts.
Even the Fech game on Black Friday sucked. The Georgia HS playoffs were going on at the same time. It totally blew a true recruiting weekend right before signing day.
I gave the idea a try because it attempted to address NONE of the students going to the game, but nothing will change it. The game ain’t played during classes and the crowd will always seem like a dud. Most of our students don’t even realize Tech’s a rival.
I haven’t seen any reports on what weekend a proposed 24 team CFP would begin but I suspect the coaching staff has quietly been in favor of COFH being played on Friday the last two years. Key has made GaTech a much more physical team and playing on Friday gave us one more day of recovery and preparation for the SEC Championship.
It wouldn’t surprise me at all if CKS is secretly requesting the game be moved from the primetime window to the late afternoon on Friday.
If the proposed 24 team playoff starts the 2nd weekend in December which would allow for the exclusive Army/Navy window on the first weekend, I hope that we can get COFH moved back to Saturday to allow the GHSA playoffs to have Friday without the two biggest D1 programs stealing the spotlight.
A 24 team CFP eliminates conference championship games.
The fact the McGoofity was a TENNIS ALUM and played for Magill should be reason enough to revoke his diploma and strike his name from the tennis lettermen rolls.
I just donāt get this need to be argumentative and contradictoryā¦. Whatever.
Brando is a douche. Anyone remember when he called a Vandy game years ago and they ran the swinging gate play? Shaq Wiggins picked it and housed it.
Brando called it the āEmory and Henry formation that the old ball coach used to deploy in Gainesville.ā Its not even close dude.
Its guys like Brando who convinced me that if you canāt prove youāre a mental defective, you canāt be in sports media.
As far as the media the masters does it right. Augusta national dictates when, where, who and how long. Too bad the college presidents are just greedy bureaucrats that see dollar signs in everything.
I want 2 pm kickoffs with no TV for every game in Athens. Iāll settle for one night game a year if I have to .
AMEN!! Nuff said. FTMFās!!!
If Tim Bando was on Dawgs IV he would have identified you as one of those lawyers making ir worse for everyone else.
Well. He might be right about that. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now and then.
I’m pretty sure I was a smart ass before I went to law school, though. So maybe the causal connection isn’t what a laquered haired, Temu Ted Baxter, douchebag with feet like ol’ Timbo might suspect. However much of a blight on humanity I might be, I think it’s just how the Big Dog Upstairs made me. I hope He has a sense of humor.
I’m just out here doin’ the Lord’s work. š«”š¤£š
Twitter aināt real life.
Amen, brother!!ā¦
And Brando aināt no journalist!!
Heās an insufferable douche on X. The fact that he dishes it out and canāt take it just means heās glass-jawed bully.
Excellent description of said hack.
Glad Iām old enough not to have or engage in social media. It doesnāt sound like a heathy place.
Quite frankly, I haven’t thought of the guy in 5-10 years since he left CBS, as he had also blocked me on twitter 10-12 years ago for the most milequetoast comment imaginable…. It is a pretty pathetic act….
I went to the Georgia vs. A&M semifinal women’s tennis match last night at Henry Field Stadium. The bleachers were packed with loud Bulldog fans, and the match lasted from 8 pm to almost midnight. Unfortunately, the Lady Dogs lost after a valiant effort, but the atmosphere was incredible.
Should the NCAA finals always be in Athens? My answer is an unqualified yes. Will it happen? Not a chance. IMO, it’s the best venue with the best atmosphere, but it’s also a huge advantage for the home team, and what Bulldog fans love, a lot of opposing coaches loath.
They are moving to Orlando for the next 10 years from what I heard.
The USTA built a big training center down there. My suspicion is it won’t draw flies. But the USTA knobs will be full of blustery pride. I guess we will see, but if McJughead had been doing his job, this kind of opening would never exist.
In 2027 they go to a new format. Team finals still in Athens. Doubles & Singles held separately at the USTA center in Orlando.
Different weeks of course.
I completely misread the NCAA website. I thought the Lady Dawgs were in the final against aOSU. Obviously I can’t read.
Anyhoo…great showing by the Lady Dawgs. Let’s take it all next year.
