October 10th (10/10!) will go down as a great day in college football lore. I mentioned in the ND Game Day post about hate watching, and it didn’t disappoint.
First, let’s not overlook the fact that during our tilt with Alabama, Kentucky pulled off their second week of overtime two point conversion mayhem, beating LSU and making Lane Kiffin the possible worst new hire of SEC coaches for the 2026 season.
Meanwhile, Archduke and company found a way to wrestle defeat from the jaws of victory, including a late interception that allowed Oklahoma to drive a short field and nail a game winning field goal as time expired. This will help Georgia’s oft-criticized strength of schedule, no? Also, peep the stat line:

The good news: Archie looks like he’s coming back to Austin in 2027. The bad news: Arch is coming back to Austin, at least for Texass fans.
Meanwhile, in Gainesville:
Florida fans were booing at halftime, and Buster Faulkner and Sumrall are being called frauds. Where’s SOS and his cutting edge snark when you need it? Jaden Baugh went from Heisman front runner to “who dat” in just two weeks, and it’s glorious. Can’t wait to see these assholes in the Benz.
The operative Petty song of choice for the Gators should be “Free Fallin’” or “Yer So Bad”.
In Nashville, Jared Curtis accounted for three turnovers, and Ole Miss beat the crap out of the Commodes, 52-17, which includes a touchdown thrown to a defensive lineman, just for giggles.
Let’s see…what else happened:
- Indiana scraped by Nebraska, who shot theirselves in the foot with play calling and still hasn’t beaten a ranked team in a decade. Fraud alert, all around.
- Bobby Hill barely beat the worst team in the SEC, and maybe the country, 24-17. But they will be in the SECCG, per Hillbilly fans
- Duke lost to Georgia Tech (ugh), and Pitt lost to Bill Belichick’s libido in ACC play. That leaves officially one ranked ACC team out there, or at least it should.
- Oregon and poet laureate Dylan Raiola lost to UCLA, lead by Nico Wafer Iamagunnaleavya, and Dan Lanning has some real ass problems he needs to address in Eugene, as the Sucks committed seven turnovers in the game, including five fumbles.
- In a win for the anti-NIL crowd, Texas A&M lost AGAIN to Missouri and it wasn’t particularly close. Money for nothing, amirite?
It was great day, ending with a Dawgs win. And Boise State beat Fresno State, 38-31, in case you missed the late late game.
College football is still great, despite the powers that be’s best efforts to make it otherwise.
It was almost a perfect weekend, except Tennessee won
And the nerds.
The Tennessee win and the Duke choke against the nerds were the only tiny flaws of the day.
It would be funny if Bama lost to Tennessee
Tennessee gonna beat Bama.
I’m going to watch the replay of us v Bama (which I never do). My heart was in my throat the whole 2nd half.
PSA turn the volume off first until the last minute.
What Scuba said. The mute button is your friend.
Brandon Spikes can go piss up a rope.
One of the best days of CFB I can remember. Horns, Handbags, Oregon, LSU and of course the Tide all go down on the same day. The SEC is about as wild as I’ve ever seen it. Yesterday started early and ended late, late, late. Good times.
Texas looks poorly coached on the little things.
How could you fail to mention Joey Freshwater’s LSU debacle in Lexington. That was the cherry on top.
Also, FSU’s beatdown put a smile on a lot of DAWG faces.
It’s literally the first game mentioned!
Dan Lanning tells Sark hold my beer. Count these 7 turnovers I’m the man who can do the least with the most money. Mike Elko would like a word Dan.
How lucky are we Archduke didn’t come to Athens. He has a multi million dollar arm with very poor processing skills. Gunner is a much better QB.
Yesterday was peek Kirby pushing all the right buttons the right way.
GO DAWGS
Ever thus to nepo babies, Arch. (To paraphrase Woo.)
If that chick had put her arm around my neck and shoulders like she did the KY Coach, I’d have kissed her.
