I was thinking I knew a historical #71 for this many days left, but my memory was hazy…should’ve mentioned him at 74 but failed to do so mainly because of my memory of this:

Craig “Sky” Hertwig…we are 71 days away from kickoff but 71 was his pro number not his Georgia one. RIP, Sky.

In recruiting news, Lincoln Riley seems to be once again taking a beating at the hands of Kirby Smart (maybe). After much crowing about stealing some of Georgia’s top talent around a month ago, it’s now this:
And some are having some fun with it, naturally:
Interesting stat from last year…man did some people waste some money on average teams last year:
And here’s a 71 yard touchdown to commemorate our ongoing countdown:
Go Dawgs!
Sky was a really good dude.
Yep. No matter when or where you’d see him, he would always greet you like a long lost friend, when I’m sure he didn’t know me from Adam. I spent many nights at the 5th Quarter/Swino’s.
No one could turn the corner like Hearst could.
LOL Vol fans using every last food stamp to see their losing team.
Played a whole lot of Addams Family pinball at Sky’s.
G money…gone
that clip of Hearst reminded me of those Jefferson Pilot broadcasts.
Back in 1983, Sky rescued me and two buddies from a certain whupping by three locals outside the 5th Quarter. We still talk about him to this day. G-d rest his soul.
We frequented Nowhere Bar enough to where he knew if we were about to get out of control, and could squash it pretty quick. Kind of like a big brother. He was a great guy.
