Good morning, had another long, busy day yesterday. Hoping to be done this weekend, so I should have more time next week to research and increase the number of posts/subjects.
Looks like Dell McGee is going to take over as HC at GA State, he’s been offered the job per Coffey:
Other than that, for today, chat amongst yourselves and have a great day. Go Dawgs!
I guess I’m surprised we held on to him this long. Best of luck, Dell!
This is what happens when your program has top quality assistants and you win a lot. Thanks to Coach McGee, I’m sure he will do a good job at Georgia State.Do we ever put them on our schedule? I have no interest in who the cupcake games are with, but do we help Dell a little? Or do we just keep refusing to give oxygen to a team in our backyard? I don’t see them as a threat, but why help them become one? I’m sure a competitor like Dell aims to become one. I have no strong feelings either way, just curious.
As someone that holds a degree from Ga State, I like the hire. Granted McClendon was my first choice.
Largest school in the USG now!
Tough to lose a good coach and a great recruiter. I wish Kirby would hire Hines Ward to backfill.
Good for him. Very happy for Dell if it works out.
I guess that makes Schu the only guy who is still in Athens from the original staff.
In other news….CFP “leaders” already discussing going to 14 or 16 teams with 6 auto-qualifiers but no limit on how many can qualify from one conference. “Everything is on the table” according to Seth and other reporters. Best quote I saw on X/Twitter was “These guys also love the NBA Allstar game.”
8-4 Kentucky finally makes the playoffs. Yippee.
I was told going to 12 (and then 14) teams was to make sure the regular season “still mattered”!
Otis, anything you post is enough. Thank you for the work.
Here! Here!
Having the huddle up each day is good enough for us scamps to post our own links to start a discussion. Otis, no need to burden yourself anymore than that with all that you have going on.
If only the Senator were alive to see Robert Bork, Jr. railing against the NCAA in National Review…

Well shit.
Good stuff Otis, thanks. On another note I’m sure some of you guys enjoy reading Loran’s short stories on The Dawg Bone just as I have for years.
Is it me or has he become a bit “sloppy” recently?
People get old. Ask me how I know?
🤣😂
Mr Loran is pushing 90 if he’s not there already.
Damn Good Dog.
A friend lost his wife to cancer and Loran was very helpful to the family before and after.
I have several of his books from over the years, and I have enjoyed them, but I have to say that the term ‘recently’ is doing a lot of heavy lifting there.
86, I remember reading in VD’s books somewhere that the players used to cut and run when Loran came to do post game interviews.. Notorious for asking them really stupid questions.
Back in the early 90’s I used to think Loran sounded old. Now I just think he sounds…familiar…
Bama replaces Eli Gold as radio announcer. Can’t stand his voice but one of the last of the old guard SEC voices. He’s not happy about being put out to pasture either. Strange times in Alabama for sure.
Eli has been battling cancer and in a recent interview says he’s ‘cancer free.’ He’s a good and decent man. Bama doesn’t deserve him.
So….. Shawn Elliot left the head coach position at Georgia State to become an assistant coach (tight ends) at USCjr. That said, are we to believe the HC at Georgia State is better than RB coach at UGA? What gives?
Elliott made $811,000 in 2023. McGee made $850,000 at Georgia.
Does anyone know what the projected depth chart will look like for the running backs? Is Etienne at the top?
I’m sure he is right at the top but he will be pushed by our Robinson twins as well as a couple studs coming in as freshmen…we are very DEEP finally in the running back room
I agree with everything you said except the part about Branson Robinson. I hope he’s back, but his injury sounded far more serious than originally described and he has a long road to recovery. I read somewhere there was even the possibility that he may not return to football. I wish him the best as these injuries are very hard to comeback from 100%.
Did not know Branson’s injury was that severe. I makes me nauseous seeing these kids get injured…difficult part of the game.
Was hoping they’d take Faulkner from the nerds, but they got a good one. Kirby will replace him with another quality assistant. Being technically a GSU alum, I feel like McGee is an upgrade to Elliot.
satan navigated those staff replacement waters for several years, some of those staffers used alabamia as a re$ume builder, CKS and his rolodex have worked so far…UGA football has been a spring board for staff in the past/now/future…GO DAWGS!!
Quit appologizing for the lack of content OD. Life happens. We are all just appreciative for the platform. Keep it up Brother! Love Ya, Mean It.
Thanks! Right back at ya!
