Hey Verne, It’s Gary

The B1G on CBS just didn’t have a ring to it, for you, for me, and apparently for Gary, too.

Can’t blame him. If I had to watch B1G football for a living, I’d also explore other career options. Off the top of my head, things I’d rather do than watching a Nebraska versus UCLA tilt would include:

  • Watching paint dry
  • Hanging dry wall
  • Teaching Pre-K
  • Being a lot lizard at the Brunswick Pilot Station truck stop
  • Hanging out with Tennessee fans
  • Community Service in Athens on a football Saturday morning
  • Training chihuahuas to do literally anything
  • Watching a Sex and the City marathon and not getting to make snarky comments about the stable of horses that make up the cast trying to pass as hot women (Kim excluded)
  • Titrating chemicals in Professor Atwater’s inorganic chemistry class
  • Coaching three-year-olds soccer
  • Attending a kids birthday party without alcohol involved
  • Cleaning the pool with live snakes in the skimmers
  • Staring at the sun

We’ll always have 2007, Gary. When you’ve been allowed to hang with the best football conference in the nation for as long as you did, anything other than the SEC has gotta feel like a demotion.

Too bad Dan Mullen’s busy. He’s the only other color commentator that I think would be fit to fill Gary’s hollow shoes.

  1. I don’t have time for many games other than ours these days, but I maybe watched snippets of 3-4 games on CBS this year – sad!

  2. is charles davis the dude that screams on every play?

    • No, that’s GUS JOHNSON!! He’s on Fox.

I know it’s fashionable to hate on Gary, but I always enjoyed the guy and thought he gave a good analysis of the game.

BTW, I saw fair catch specialist Logan Gray in that clip. And I also noticed we kicked it out of bounds after all the dancing. Still stomped the Barners, though.

  3. I loved Gary & missed him on our SEC games.
Called it as he saw it & was a good analytical guy.
Called the plays before they ran, many times.
