Hello Early Risers, and Thank You

I mentioned a while back I’m going through some personal stuff, and it’s been a year of hell all around. It’s been massively introspective, depressing, and inspiring all at the same time.

Some nights, I sleep like a log.

Some nights, I don’t sleep at all.

Last night, I was wrestling with the demons and was up around 4:36 am in the morning. That’s when I saw Whit1365 liked one of the early morning scheduled posts.

There are many of you who come here daily, like clockwork. You comment, like, check in and read, or whatever. I kind of whined last week about “We Good?” and y’all responded in kind. Views and engagement went way up this week. I would like to think it’s the quality of posts, but I also know it’s the first week this year where we get to (a) celebrate a Florida face plant and (b) we have our first “real game” of the year.

Regardless, I am always awed to look at the stats and see our readers. We have people reading in Greece, China, and South Africa. I never thought I’d do anything that had a global reach. I gotta admit, it’s kind of cool.

Thanks for hanging in there with us. And thanks to Otis, who’s been in touch a time or two and it was interesting to talk with Otis on the phone over the summer about potential site upgrades, which may come after season’s end. If anything, hearing a human voice on the other end and realizing we are, in fact, real people, has a real impact on someone who has felt like a prisoner for close to a year now.

We will keep on keeping on, Hurricanes or otherwise, because it’s fun, and because some of us are reminded at 4:36 in the morning that we’re still alive, and we’re still connected. Thanks for that.

Humbly and respectfully, JP.
