Here’s a quote, to end all quotes:
“I was surprised by that since they brought 16 to the table,” the SEC commissioner said Monday night. “When we were meeting last year, all those 16 ideas weren’t ours, and probably some of the outcomes. There’s probably clarity that they have looked at 16, just not much of late. He’d [Tony] have to explain their positioning.
Now do 24. What in the hell, Greg?
The conference that can’t count was willing to go to 16 but only if conferences had a number of guaranteed spots. The SEC maintained that they wanted more at large.
This whole thing is a cluster. At least, Stewart Mandel is seeing this for what it really is … a proxy war between ESPN and Fox. No one really wants 24 except for the people at Fox.
^^^ This. SEC wants to keep the conference championship game. Fox wants in on the big action. ESPN wants to keep Fox shut out. It’s all a money grab.
Fox for the win. They have the money to win this game.
It’s what the fans want!
…says no true fan.
Considering the iron grip ESPN has on the sec, Sankey will have his marching orders. Fox will have to make some pretty big financial offers to get in the game.
We will get screwed blued and tattooed. Ain’t even gonna get a kiss! Oh well, get used to it or be gone!! Glad I’m old!!
