Friday Fodder for Filibustering: College Towns

Here’s a Twixxer’s opinion on the matter:

Can’t disagree with her number one, which I believe is spot on. I can’t agree with #2 and #5.

What’s your opinion?

  1. I’ve been to 4 Athens, Clemson, Lincoln and South bend. Clemson shouldn’t be on the list. South bend is ok, Lincoln is a cool town. I would add Boulder to the list but I’m speaking out of ignorance on 6 of the 10. I don’t see how anyone could have the polar opposites of Athens and jortsville.

    • I would say Boulder should make the list although the environment can be…exotic?…for some. It’s stuck in the Haight-Ashbury‘70s.

    • Also, number one is correct. The rest is just so much fluff.

  2. Side note…the “Leave Reply” on my Apple devices has gone haywire. I get the gray background field but the actual box to type a reply is missing. Using Jetpack for this response.

  3. Well, the reply box just started working for me, wouldn’t earlier.
Wouldn’t just a minute ago on the previous post. Gremlins

  4. Since I haven’t been to some I’ll just include those I’ve been to.
    Gainesville is a sewer/cesspool.
    1) Oxford
    2) Athens
    3) South Bend
    4) Charlottesville
    5) Auburn
    6) Clemson (The lake makes it homey)
    7) Boone, NC
    8) Eugene
    9) Stillwater
    10) Blacksburg

    • I am astounded that Oxford wasn’t on the list also. Your list is mo’ betta than hers.

  5. Chapel Hill should be toward the top of the list rather than not on it at all. Considering her definition of “college town” seems to be a place that’s dominated by a college or university, that’s a really egregious miss. (Of course, we’re just taking the clickbait this Twixer nobody has fed us …)

    A couple of more nits:
    1) There are plenty of smaller college towns (e.g., Davidson) I’d put on a top 10 list instead of dumps like Gainesville.
    2) It’s a big city independent of educational institutions but no Boston?

  6. Some of those are just cities with a college in them, as opposed to college towns.

  7. any list with clemson in the top ten is stupid because the list ‘makerers’ have never been to that i jackass town. auburn looks like NYC compared to dabo’s shit hole.
    to confirm… clemson sucks

    • Pine trees and a lake. That’s all I can remember. Would’ve made for a better piece of property for hunting and fishing than for going to college.

      • Any list of the best college towns that includes Clemson cannot be taken seriously. Clemson is a shithole.

  8. my rage for clemson clouded my vision of the aqua velva, camaro, gold chain, jorty jorts wearing lizard fuck sticks of the asshole’s asshole of florida and the #2 on the list, gainesville…the only good thing about gainesville is Tom motherfucking Petty.
to confirm…gators eat boogers + FTMFs

  9. I really like Charlottesville and would probably have it #2. South Bend is a cool place, but weather has to count for something and theirs sucks half the year. Athens is just paradise to me.

  10. Chappel Hill and Boulder I agree should be on there. Also, what about Madison, WI?

  11. Jumped over here to say that, with the inclusion of South Bend, her list has zero credibility. South Bend sucks. There is Notre Dame and there is South Bend, they are not the same, not even close. I will reiterate, South Bend sucks (but the Notre Dame campus is beautiful).

Also, her list includes, Pullman, WA?? GTFOH

  12. Gainesville and Clem(p)son can fall into a crater and die. Give me Oxford, MS, and Baton Rouge, LA *ANY* day of the week.

  13. Good grief which one of these is not like the others? Athens stands out like a sore thumb. It’s a great college town but the rest on that list suck. Lincoln Nebraska? Gainesville? Seriously?
