Fabris Pool Finals Week: Time to Cram

I have a recurring dream that is so vivid and feels so real…and it always takes place in the Brooks Hall auditorium. I walk in to my micro econ class and sit down (fully clothed, thankfully never nekkid), ready to take notes. The TA starts passing out tests, and I realize that it is the final exam. I have Rip Van Winkled myself and slept through the entire quarter*.

College football season goes by so fast…wasn’t it Labor Day weekend just the other day? While I was definitely awake every Saturday and took notes (and drinks, while fully clothed) pulling for our Dawgs, I was surprised once again when the regular season came to an end. The uncertainty of just how many more games the Red and Black might get to play weighs heavy on my soul.

How does one cram as a fan? We can’t. We’ve been here before, either cautiously optimistic or Munson-like pessimistic. We dang sure know the players can’t cram for a big test, yet we are fortunate to have a coach who’s been preparing our Dawgs for these big moments over months and years.

As for cramming for your Fabris Pool final exam, you’ve got until early this evening to bone up on your picks. Pull those grades up with a prognosticating Hail Mary! Do not despair; The Fabris Pool Bowl Pickem Spectacular awaits.

Your humble, sleep-deprived commish,

Dawglicious

*Quarters are better than semesters. Discuss.

  1. I have the same reoccurring dream but I can’t find my classroom.

  2. It’s been over 40 years since I’ve set foot in a classroom and I still have those dreams.

Oh, and quarters over semesters. If it was good enough for me, it’s good enough for all these young whippersnappers!

  3. The Fabris Pool was effing difficult this season. Maybe I should try making my picks fully clothed.

  4. I’m 60, and still dream that it’s about 8 weeks into a quarter (well past drop date) and I suddenly remember I have a class that I haven’t been to since the first week.

On a positive note, my youngest son is graduating a week from today in the Terry College Risk Management program. I’m getting a raise by default.

  5. First time I remember picking this bad since I’ve been playing and I ain’t digging out the last week. Damnit Bobo.
Do appreciate your time and effort Dawglicious for continuing this tradition. I always enjoy it no matter how bad I am.

  6. As someone who matriculated under the Quarter system, with a daughter currently under the Semester system, I can confirm that the Quarter system is far superior.
