  2. Kirby Smart is Alabama’s bitch. It is what it is. Ellis and not kicking fg were epic, but going to Cash Jones on 4th and 1 and throwing to Cash Jones sideways on 3rd and 9 at midfield down 3.with 4 minutes left are my highlights of the evening. DeBoer owns Kirby. Let that sink in.

  4. I place this loss squarely on Smart and Bobo. Smart won’t kick a tying field goal to make it 24-24, goes for it on 4th and very short and gives it to Cash Jones on a run to the right? I don’t hate Cash Jones, but WHY would you give him the ball twice on 2 critical plays in the 4th quarter? He’s the smallest RB we have. Of course, we also dropped a sure TD too. We had our chances, but can’t get out of our own way.

    • Don’t let Schumann of the hook. Bama converted on almost 70% of their 3rd downs for the whole game. You aren’t going to win many with those stats.

      • DeBoer and Co. certainly watched the way Tennessee played darts against us.
        Better get used to it. It’s what we’re going to see for the rest of the year.

  5. Flipped over in time to see the Dan Lanning post game interview. Wow. That’s the intensity we had when he was on our sideline. These days it feels like we’re just happy to be there. Smile for the cameras and enjoy the light show, boys.

    • While they looked better in the 2nd half, the defense absolutely SUCKED in the 1st half. Schumann owes his position and paycheck to the legacy that Lanning left for him and the backstop from Boom. With both gone, it’s just not the same.

  7. We will likely see them again in Atlanta. That was an obvious pre-season prediction, Texass be damned. But we miss Monken, Lanning and Boom. We have not upgraded our staff from ‘21-‘22 and won’t be elite until we do.

    • I never saw him in the game again after that. Unless someone gets hurt or it’s trash time I shouldn’t ever see him carry the ball again. Him fumbling is a problem that just won’t go away.

  10. No need to blame Ellis. We blew plenty of opportunities before that.

    Defense was non-existent in the first half and offense was schizophrenic.

    • Agree. Already had the 1st down before Jimmy Supafly Snuka made an appearance. Just stop them on the next set of downs whether the ball is set there or 15 more yards downfield. There were plenty of other opportunities for the good guys to win it or squarely shoot themselves in the foot.

    • Ultimately they were held to 24 points. I’m pretty sure OCs don’t brag in interviews about 21.

    • Agree. And like I told dad when it was over- we don’t look like a national championship team, but I haven’t seen another team yet that’s head and shoulders above the rest of the field.

      • Yep, just keep getting the youngsters better all year and go on a run in the playoffs then hope you can pay the returning players enough to maintain a semblance of competitiveness next year…Senator’s rolling in his grave…

  12. Yes, hindsight says take the points, but we’ve asked Kirby to be aggressive since he got here… easy to second guess it now.

      • That’s the problem. If you’re going to go for it on fourth and less than a yard, don’t play stupid games…
        I really have no problem that Kirby went for it on fourth and one..I do have a problem with the personnel and call. We have a bruiser running back…but used Cash Jones…flash back to a particular loss on a particular play at SC.

    Kirby is still getting credit for the titles Monken, Bennett, and Bowers gave him. How long will that last?

    • Well he kinda hired Monken and recruited the other two…so I guess he can take credit…I mean Dooley got credit for Herschel’s natty…

        He also had the current Philly defense. He gets a little credit for that. 😉

  15. I think this is more on Kirby than anyone else. We’ve come back to within 3 points facing a 4th and 1 and with basically a chip shot kick to tie, but instead he chooses to go for it. I’m sure he thought let’s drive a stake in their chest, but missing that 4th down try changed the momentum we had, and never got back. The game had some positives. The defense played pretty good in the second half and y’all are always saying RTDB, and we did, including a lot of yards after contact.

    • I agree…but the problem is, we had a lot of yards after contact…except when we gave the ball to CJ. That’s the head scratcher.

  16. Really simple, honestly. Kirby is the best coach in college football, but he’s so good he thinks he can win without the best coaching talent. He thinks his brilliance can make up the gulf and allow him to have his “buddies” along for the ride.

    He’s wrong and he’s learning a brutal lesson right now.

    Mike Bobo will always get his stats in the long run, but he will consistently make sure his offense disappears in critical games.

    He is not creative or innovative or brilliant. He’s an above average OC.

    You’re either elite, or you’re not. And Mike Bobo is not elite.

    You need creative, innovative offense to win titles. We don’t have that right now.

    • NOTE: I think Kirby has gotten complacent with his entire coaching staff and has too many buddies and old pals/mentors he thinks he can bring along for the ride.

      The final lesson he has to learn from his most important mentor, Nick Saban, is you cut the dead weight immediately or else you’ll be dragged down to the bottom of the ocean with them.

      I’m not an expert enough to call out every example. Bobo is just the most obvious because we have been here before.

      • Agree 100% – Schumann no longer has Lanning and Boom to prop him up. He’s looking more and more like Willie Martinez 2.0! If Kirby keeps recycling Richt retreads like Bobo and Searles, our days of being Elite and competing for National Championships are over!

  17. My mother said tonight Kirby needs to lose weight “he’s unhealthy.” Dogs defense ain’t a Saban defense. I’m not blaming this on Bobo per se you have to “catch the damn ball” when Carson Beck hits you on the numbers like a Stockton offense tonight except for fourth and cash, when nobody’s got you except third and grantham, seen him on this blog?

  20. Defense with the now normal bad start. Dropping an easy TD pass then inserting Cash for must have plays. Allowing a fumble prone RB to handle the ball in your red zone. Finally not taking the three to tie. That for me sums up how for me how we lost.

    There is a lot of fight in this team. It’s still finding identity. I believe they will continue to get better if they stay healthy. Losing sucks more than winning feels good.

    It’s official now beyond doubt Georgia and its head coach have a bama problem.

  21. This is on Kirby. He couldn’t help himself. It was obvious even to us dumbass fans what the right decision was. It was so clear that the only decision there is to kick the field goal and tie the game. You had all the momentum at that point. Simpson had an “I just shit in my pants.” look on his face every time they showed him at that point. Take the points and tie the game and you probably go on to win. Nope. Kirby couldn’t resist proving a point and wanted to get into a measuring contest with that dumbass pretender Deboer. Kirby’s stubbornness and his ego lost this game. He will never admit it and when he’s asked about it he will excuse it away and shut down any more questions about it but this is on him.

  22. I don’t have the coaching credentials of some on here but I know this: if Juan Gaston does anything on the 4th and 1 play we probably get a first down.

  23. Late in the second quarter it became apparent that we had won the LOS on both sides. We could rtdb. They couldn’t.

    I thought we had it. It was just a matter of time.

    We just didn’t make enough plays and we let them hang around.

    Frustrating to be sure, but we’ll be ok.

  25. HEADS UP, REFUGEES.
    I attended the Dawg Walk for the first time yesterday. Big crowd. Someone in that crowd picked my wallet out of my back pocket. Tried by about $1500 00 in gift cards from the UGA Book Store, Athens Dollar General and Walgreens. I had about $250 in cash in the wallet, my Driver’s license, my State Bar card, my health insurance card and Medicare Part A card.
