Countdown to Georgia Bulldogs Football, 42 Days

Good morning!

Here is card #42 for 42 days to go…

If you haven’t seen this, see it now. Pretty sure we’ve got some of the Railroad Track crowd here…

If he was still with us, Erk would have been 100 yesterday.

The Pontoon Playlist plays one from the request line..

Go Dawgs!

  1. Great reminder of a Great Coach and some Great fans!! Never sat on tracks but did and always will admire them. Made it fun even for us in the stadium. Thanks for the memories!! Go Dawgs!!!

  2. During my time in Athens I watched all but one game from the tracks. We normally arrived Friday evening to party. Sometimes we never left. Every game started at noon on Saturday so spending the night wasn’t that big a deal. Pee Wee teams played in Sanford early on Saturday mornings so there was entertainment. Erk liked to come up Friday nights to smoke a cigar and ocassionally have a drink. In those days, there was no Dawg Walk. The buses unloaded in front of the tracks and Erk had the cheerleaders working the track crowd while the State Patrol held all traffic until they were done. During the last season on the tracks the crowds got a bit out of hand. We took to building scaffolding and throwing an old couch we bought from the Potter’s house on top. Good times. Great memories.
