Countdown to Georgia Bulldogs Football, 37 Days

Good morning! 37 days left…

JP asked the question a couple days ago… “…you do like the old days and turn the TV down and listen to the radio broadcast?” Some commenters mentioned the difficulty in syncing the audio with the telecast. Just wanted to note for those not aware, the Dawgs have an app on the Apple App Store and Google Play for Android. The app is free. The radio broadcasts (if there is one) for any sports is available on there free to stream. It also has a pause function. If you are watching over-the-air, from satellite or cable, the radio broadcast is usually behind the telecast. So, if you have a DVR, you just need to pause it to sync up with the audio stream. Usually stays synced up through the game once you have it dialed in. Trying to sync to a TV stream is another matter. If you’re streaming the game (one game a year we are required to be streaming only on SEC Network+, contractually). In that case yeah, it’s tough. TV streams seem to have some sort of time slip, you’ll get it synced up and soon it will be out of sync. And, any of you cord cutters that are streaming only, it’s probably is too much work and probably distracts you from the game. The majority of Diamond Dawgs games are on SEC Net+, streaming only. Still, I’d rather listen to DJ & JD than the ESPN mouth-flappers. So, at every commercial break, I’d resync, anywhere from 17-18 times or more, per game. Ya gotta be dedicated for that. Luckily football is on broadcast or cable for every game but one. Anyway, just thought I’d throw that out for anyone interested.

Or… maybe we can talk ESPN into doing announcer-less games?

As a Dolphins fan, I remember watching that game. And, of course, they lost.

Here’s card #137 from the Georgia’s Finest set:

Go Dawgs!

  1. Is he another Harold “War Eagle” Keatron Coca-Cola Dawg?
Notice in the background the tall trees behind the end line. I wonder if the trees blocked the view from the railroad track at that time?
I don’t know of anyone who was around at that time to ask.

  2. Let us know when they have an app that can AI a radio broadcast by you know who. “DO YOU REALIZE” . . . .

  3. I’ve noticed the option being more and more available on espn in season. It was only for the natty and now they have it for the playoffs and many of the regular season games.

I love it. Ambient sound, best seat in the house and no bullshit from tv announcers.
