That’s the #6 Wildcats, who just dropped 106 in a win against top ranked Florida on Saturday. The best game I can remember from my days in Athens was a visit from UNC during the Tubby Smith days. The place was electric and loud the entire time….but it looks like this might’ve been a bit more juiced:

Watched last night. One thing about it this team is physical and nasty in the paint.
I watched the last 2:30 because I was following the game on my phone and didn’t want jinx them by turning on the TV. At that point, I knew it was likely safe to watch.
Would every other fan base like ours starving for a hoops winner in the country storm the court after a win like that? Yes. Did our fans show some class? Yes. Did Josh Brooks notice? Yes by throwing an additional $25k to fan promos for the remainder of the year.

That was great. I was my usual bball; self– I just knew we’d blow that halftime lead…lol. Physical, blocking shots, aggressive with the ball, fighting back when KY got bitchy and throwing cheap shots.
We definitely have a better basketball team this season than recent memory, but with the SEC so strong, it will be hard to notice. Hope they keep playing strong and make the tournament.
I remember a couple of years ago some commenters at GTP said some awful things about Mike White. Seems he may be working out for us.
I don’t know if I said anything awful about him, but he had a long run of wearing out his teams so they faded at the end of games and seasons. Hopefully he learned his lesson. Was great to see them hang on last night, even if Kentucky just didn’t have the juice. Huge win, statement win, and the posts are terrific (led by Newell). Great roster rebuild by White. Only question is whether the guards can start shooting better and protect the ball in crunch time. To Russ’ point though, the conference is a juggernaut. Just gotta win 7 SEC games and they’re dancing. 6 to go!
Are we sure the win is in the books, or do the officials need to do another review? I don’t recall ever seeing so many reviews in a game. The Hoop Dawgs play tough defense and rebound well. If they can stay focused on offense and take smart shots, they look promising (in relative terms).
No. No no no no no. Every year I get sucked in by the early wins and start watching every game. And then the losses come and I go back to hating modern bball and watch Dominique Wilkens highlights in the dark. So no.
This is definitely a different team, FPD. At least plan to check in on them around Valentine’s Day. If they haven’t started fading by then, it will be fun to watch them in the dance.

Newell is the star/stud as advertised but Cyril is a MAN down low. I always was just dumbfounded how we ended up with posts that were either 6’8 or beanpoles when our state produces monsters regularly. They don’t have to be Tim Duncan, it’s just nice to see a guy take the ball with authority when he’s clean below the rim.
