As the Portal Turns…

So, news is coming out that Colbie Young will enter a not guilty plea and will await trial in May. Sounds like Young will not be rejoining the team for any portion of the playoffs if that is true. Not sure the inner workings of whatever is resulting in that…but, as news comes out about that, there’s this:

I’m not sure if this means Nitro just realized he’s up for more playing time in the playoff, or if this means there’s something not so favorable in line for Young.

  1. As for Young, it sounds to me like the prosecution doesn’t want to accept the recantation. Kirby probably can’t play Colbie while its pending.

Tuggle is very likely an unrelated situation.

    • I agree, Derek. I think CKS decided that he wanted to keep Tuggle and $ugge$ted a $olution. As for Young, I said before that the decision about the recantation will be made by the new DA. That can’t happen in an official capacity until after the new year. The case was on the calendar and the plea was entered to put the thing off until next year. Normal operating procedure from when I used to do this sort of thing. But the two things are unrelated, imo.

  2. The wheels of justice in Athens have ground to a halt with Mr Young. I’m curious to his decisions if he is exonerated of all accusations.

  3. I don’t know what this kid is thinking, creating this kind of disruption going into the playoffs. And he would have to leave the team and not get a Natty Ring? not smart…

  4. Don’t forget Nitro has until 12/28 to go back in. It’s not rational for him to leave, given the number of guys leaving ahead of him, even if a couple recruits coming in next year likely have higher ceilings. It seems he would be in the top 6 rotation pretty easily, if not starting. So, I tend to agree this was about getting a bump in compensation.
