I have to admit, in the days of conference expansion, this might be the most entertaining/intriguing conference scheduling I’ve seen.
Let’s start with the fact that the whole conference plays their out-of-conference games in their first four matchups. Of those OOC games, it looks like many actually scheduled some entertaining ones, too.
Also, every PAC team is a State team. Hmmm. I heard Florida State is seeking a new home.
Next, you move into the regular season where you play seven conference games, with a bye week, and the final week is a Flex game. How does that work?
The Flex is just a bonus game, as the conference championship game participants are decided the week prior…but what it does provide is the opportunity to see another opponent in another stadium, as it’s geared towards making sure redundancy is avoided.
It’s a nice way to “get to know” your fellow conference opponents, who just joined your conference recently from the previous PAC-2.
Call it what you will, but I personally welcome the smaller conference feeling here as opposed to the mega-conference, “you might play these folks sometime this decade” scheduling. You know, like playing Texas A&M once since they joined the SEC 13 years ago….meanwhile, we’ve already played Texas three times in just their second year of conference membership. Go figure.
I gotta be honest, I’m kind of rooting for them to find a resurgence among the Power 4 money grabbers. As evidenced by Indiana, all it takes is the right group of investors, and you’re right up there again.
With soooo much programming attention, how long before oregon, washington, usc and others attempt to break out of their conference affiliation to git back into the pac whatever….

What is the fetish amongst this group to want to go to Tejas A&M? That rectal deposit of a school doesn’t even deserve to be in the SEC and the pain in the arse probably involved in getting to their lil cult compound ain’t worth it. If you’re gonna piss, moan and whine about how football is ruined going to College Station ain’t the solution.

So the flex game preserves the money stays in conference. No bribes to Go5 teams to come play. I can’t think of an SEC rival I’d want to see home & away in a single season beyond the SECCG where the dome is home. But that is the model for an SEC 16 team league with 2 divisions and the flex rotates an opposite division opponent with you. Sadly I see this coming by adding Clemson and FSU.
Over/Under SEC sends us to Auburn twice for a flex game after seeing this trash model?
Alternatively perhaps the 2 mega conferences will just continue adding teams to the point that the SEC adopts Atlantic, Southeast and Southwest Divisions while the B1G has a West, Midwest and Coastal essentially yielding the old Big 12, SEC and ACC vs the old Pac 12, B1G and Big East give or take a team or 2 here and there to fill out the balance.
Just go back to 10 Real SEC!! You could drive to them in a day, sometimes come home without having to leave money in some rival town . Travel is going to stop a lot of us real Dawgs out. But , as we know, it’s all about the MONEY!!
