This was serendipity on the Twix last night. Based on a lot of responses from y’all about missing Superstation 17 Braves broadcasts, here’s a gem that will take you back to days gone by.
Javy Lopez, Mark Lemke…ah, the good ole days. As Archie and Edith used to say:
“Girls were girls and men were men”…man how times change, and, yet, they don’t.
Still, I miss my JP Sports and Superstation 17.
Skip was the best … he was better than his father. Yeah, I said it.
Javy Lopez was a player at his peak. Live bat. Good power. Pretty good defensively.
Harry Caray was always slurring his words. I’ll defer to Cubs diehards, but I understand it was due to how many drinks he’d had that day, rather than age or a speech impediment.
Better than his father & his son
And he just trots around the bases, high fives his teammates, and heads to the dugout. Sigh.
In that time, anything done to show up the other team was met with the next pitch at the ear hole.
As it should be.
All that’s missing is Jeff Blauser (said no one ever!)….
That’s Jeff “See through” Blauser.
I noticed the Crime Dog, Fred McGriff on second in the clip. I liked him.
He was on deck…
I thought Jeff Treadway was the better 2nd baseman. The old timers in baseball said “ never trade a .300 hitter”.
My brush with Javy Lopez was him almost running me over while I was in a crosswalk out front of the Ted. He was really great.
Mark Lemke sucked for his entire career except for, like, 4 games. I screamed, YOU ARE NOT A FLIPPING SWTCH HITTER, at the television until I was blue in the face sometimes. LOL.
