Not With a Bang, But a Whimper

I’ll just leave this here.

It was awful, and that is all I have to say about that. How’re yall feeling?

  1. They came out of the gate completely out of control. Like 8th grade street ball. I turned it off 5 minutes in seeing where it was going, hoping my failure to watch would turn things around. Alas… it’s baseball season with a tease of spring football.

    • UGA basketball is the biggest mystery in college sports. Flagship school, huge resources, in a talent rich state, in a major conference. Rarely better than mediocre. It makes no sense. UNC football is a distant second on the mystery scale.

  2. Very hard to watch, was in bed before halftime. Flat out don’t understand how poor our shot selection can be at times, or all the time from what I briefly watched last night. Sloppy, ugly, embarrassing.

  3. How does a team down 17 at half come out and immediately give up a 16-0 run to start the second half? That is pathetic. I put that squarely on Pee Wee (I’m now with TexDawg).

It’s going to really suck watching Dominique Wilkins’ son play and star at another school.

      • I’m now thinking it starts at the top. White has to instill those qualities. Cain and Somto have been here a few years. Where is their leadership? Wilkinson is for sure gone. He was our only consistent threat.

  4. I saw it started at 10 and knew I wouldn’t stay up to watch. Praises God from whom all blessings flow.

  5. Undisciplined. I’ve noticed that all year. Bunch of transfers. Mike White is not coaching them up. 🤣

  6. I propose this blog never mentions UGAMBB again until AFTER they make a run in the tournament…if ever.

  7. Disappointing, but not at all surprising. Talent has been upgraded, but they’re still soft as tissue, especially mentally.

    • Rebounding, rebounding, rebounding….good news was that UGA basketball got put out of it’s misery while all were sleeping, to git out rebounded, then run out of the gym by Fucking meeshigun during primetime would have been embarrassing….GO DAWGS!!

      • That was my take away from last night. I can’t tell you how many easy buckets St Louis got solely because we couldn’t figure out how to put an ass on someone and box out. My coach in high school might’ve murdered someone had he’d been coaching that game.

      • Rebounding is hard work and doesn’t get you on the ESPN highlight reel. That’s why they don’t wanna do it. Not enough “look at me” value.

  8. I had no intention of watching it and knew in my bones what was going to happen.

We have some good players and I have appreciated a decent conference season.

At the same time, they just never felt like a tournament team to me.

    • WTF!!!!!, talk about teams that don’t belong, wait till Mickey goes all cfp expan$ion at 20-24 or whut ever number the bean counters arrive at for more Fucking commercial time outs…GO DAWGS!!

  9. Aside from not being able to make a basket, although, as mentioned by CwickP, the shots they chose were very irresponsible, I was surprised we had no answers for their defensive scheme of keeping us in the perimeter where we don’t shoot as well unless we’re hot, and also we had no answer for their offense, clearly. It just seemed like they schemed a lot better for us than we did for them. It will be interesting to see how they play against Michigan. But anyway, a crappy ending to an otherwise good season. I’m not done with White yet, but we’ve got to show up better in the postseason for me to believe going forward. And obviously if we can get a proven upgrade then I would be in favor of it.

  10. Not sure which is worse–not making the tournament or getting shellacked/one-and-done. Either way, despite the improvement, this program seems a long way from being relevant on the national stage.

  11. It was a shitty ending to a fun season.
-getting passed the elusive 20 wins mark
    -beating UK at Rupp
-actually being ranked in the top 25
I feel like Mike White needs to take some time off without pay. Then come back and explain why Cyril only played 12 minutes in the game last night.

  12. Told a coworker yesterday… if we hit the 3s OR Cyril asserts himself early, we win. Didnt need both to happen, only one. But neither happened. They sliced and diced whatever that “d” was we had out there. Teams are beating us on matchups. Also very curious why Cyril wasn’t on the floor more. And why we didn’t show more fc press.

  13. I’m glad that we had another 20+ win season. We’re better than we have been and we made the real tournament again, so it’s an improvement from where we’ve been as a program. I have to admit that I didn’t think that Mike White was a good hire, but he’s done better than anyone else has for a long time. NIL seems to remake basketball rosters every year, so it’s a different animal than it used to be and White seems to be doing pretty good so far. Luckily, basketball loses don’t hurt my feelings for very long like football loses do, but I’m encouraged that our basketball team has improved to the point of making the tournament, but I don’t think that we’ve gotten to the point of expecting to win the tournament.

    • We could’ve had Chris Beard, Sean Miller, any mid major that is currently kicking ass —- but no, we settle and accept Mark Richtish performance (20 wins = 10 wins football).

  14. The only highlight was the alley-oop dunk to Jake Wilkins.

I would say Mike White is maybe the Mark Richt of the basketball program, but while he has elevated the program he hasn’t had near the success Richt had in football with conference championships and teams that had opportunities (a game away seasons) to play for a National Championship.

Georgia will have to find the guy to elevate the program another level and there is no reason someone can’t make the Bulldogs a program that makes runs in the NCAA tournament with all the talent in this area.

  15. I am not as upset by losing as I am by the fact that it looked we didn’t belong in the tournament. At least show up with a clue.

    • The last 2 tournaments. We didn’t bother showing up until the second half of the Ole Miss game in the SEC tourney. The two bitch slaps in a row to end this year really spoil what looked to be an upward trajectory for the program.

  16. As bad as our defense was — and it was dreadful — I can’t figure out Mike White’s offense: put Cain in one corner, Catchings in the other, Cyril at the high post, have the guards penetrate and perhaps get a good look in the lane or kick it out to the corner or up top for a three. I guess that’s what Coach White calls spacing, but it’s pretty easy to defend. If you’re shooting well it might work, but if not, you’ll likely find yourself down 27-3 eight minutes into the game. At least Kennesaw State gave Gonzaga a game this year. My Gator friends down here in N.E. Florida were so happy to get rid of Coach White. While we call their erstwhile football coach “Sun-Belt Billy” their sobriquet for Coach White is “Mid-Major Mike.”
