Under Pressure

Sad.

Maybe it’s a change in offensive philosophy that we’re facing, as Georgia set the precedent of the team to beat in college football.

Or maybe we’re regressing to the norm.

Thoughts?

  1. We’re missing truly elite talent on the front 7 and Kirby/Schumann philosophy seems to have changed a bit. Which is cause and which is effect? Not applying pressure and routinely allowing 3rd and long conversions does not seem like a good direction to be taking.

    But let’s face it…blame Bobo.

  2. The knee-jerk reaction is to say, “Fire Someone. ” The first question I have is what changes in philosophy, if any, have our opponents made during that time? Are we facing more WR screens or RPOs than we did 5 years ago? Are teams running more than they did 5 years ago? Because of the change to the clock rules does the number of plays or defense faces gone down, reducing the opportunity for sacks and pressures? I have no idea what the answers to these questions are. Unfortunately the Twittersphere is a Hot Take environment and no Twitter or Xer is going to wait for somebody to look up the data, so the only way to participate in the fun is to post, “Fire sombody!!!!”
