At least I hope, anyway…is that maybe I don’t have to see hundreds of posts and articles featuring pictures like the one below.
I don’t hate the guy, but at the same time, I’m kind of growing tired of all the Cignetti fascination. In the lead up to this week game I believe I’ve seen reposts or articles to every one that’s been on Cristobal.
People love a Cinderella story, to be sure, but man it’s seemed like it’s been Indiana overkill for far too long.
Who you got in tonight’s game?
I set up a bet with 5 other guys. We pony up $10 each and pick every bowl game against the spread. Winner take all. Each game is worth two points except playoffs that are successively worth 1, 2, 3, and 4 points.
I’m up by two points overall in the bet. I’ve got Indiana -8.5. I like Beck, but I want him to throw an INT or two tonight.
What’s the over/under on how many times Beck’s mistreatment by UGA is mentioned?
I guess no one likes a story about someone that no one liked.
Indiana is likely to win because Miami is dysfunctional on offense.
I still can’t believe we let a perfect scenario get away from us by blowing a lead and then completely mismanaging the end of the game.
Therefore, I don’t care and won’t be watching.
This
The only way I accept our Sugar Bowl debacle, is knowing Bobo’s play calling saved me at least $10k!
If someone had told me that our path to a national title this year was gonna be Ole Miss-Miami-Indiana I probably would have started pre-ordering all the new clothing with the next natty logo.
I do believe in Indiana at this point. That’s a great team and I hope they win by 50 so that this season ends up at least somewhat legitimate. If the team that lost the ACC to Duke wins a national title the whole thing will be a farce…which is what Mickey et al want, unfortunately.

That’s hilarious!
As a kid and young adult, I *hated* Miami (mom went to FSU). Even pulled for Notre Dame in Catholics vs Convicts. Only time I’ve pulled for anOSU in my entire life was against Da U in the Natty in the early aughts. That being said, I’m still not sure Indiana has played nobody yet, PAWWWL, and I’m with ee: wish we could’ve had a shot at them. The hilarity of an ACC team winning it would be fun. And, I get to properly hate the Hurricanes again!
I think Miami covers the spread, but loses anyway.
Can’t wait for Labor Day 2026!
Miami’s sole purpose for existing is to win games like tonight’s. Not that they have the best overall record in them, but there have been a few highlights:

The 1991 Cotton Bowl win over Texas was pretty funny as well:
“This game borders on child abuse.”
There is no good outcome.
Either we suffer yankee sportswriters endlessly canonizing Cignetti until we puke OR we suffer some bastardization of the history of Beck landing in Miami.
My slight inclination is to hope we suffer the latter. If nothing else it would validate my view that the people who whined about Beck’s quarterbacking, or “thought” Gunner was an obvious upgrade, simply do not understand the game of football. (Being dragged away from chuck n duck football by necessity was a good thing for the program and the 2025 team in particular btw, but we did NOT end up with the objectively superior qb. We likely ended up with a better football team that sadly ran into a rash of ill-timed injuries.)
The best news is that neither team will be promoting a finesse style of football to world. May the most “hit-you-in-the-mouth” team win. I’ll have my fingers crossed that Cristobal doesn’t do something really dumb early that leads to an uninteresting game similar to what Miss Kaylyn did.
Yep. There is no good outcome, but there is a least bad outcome. I hope good Beck is playing tonight. I hope he can score enough for the Miami D to win the game without also surrendering an INT or two. The tinfoil hat on my head also thinks the powers that be want the whole country to watch the game and not just Indianans. So maybe the refs keep close for a final finish.
Indiana & not close.
I’m pulling for Beck and Miami but I agree that Indiana will win by a lot. They are a legitimate good team.
Miami can match Indiana on the line of scrimmage. Mendoza is light years better between the ears vs Beck. Indiana’s discipline wins in a one score game unless Beck goes into one of his episodes resulting in an early bedtime for most of us.
The hype around Cignetti is media driven ( Think how many times we saw the pre wee football pics of Greene and Pollack) do I don’t dislike him. ESPN has to have a story so the worse to first/new dynasty with 2 star narrative is WFO right now.
A few thoughts.
Sooner or later Indiana has to have a bad game.
By this time, Miami’s offense should be well tuned.
We’ll likely see the “good” Beck.
Miami is probably the most physical team Indiana has seen.
If three out of four of those come true, Miami takes it.
I expect Indiana to win and cover. The thought of all summer listening to the b10 is the greatest conference ever after their third straight NC. Each by a different team talk is too much to consider.
This is almost a meteor game for me. There is no good choice.
My guess is the ratings will suffer since it’s closer to February than New Year’s Day. The CFB NCG held after week two of the NFL playoffs is just stupid. This thing should have been wrapped up weeks ago.
I’m looking forward to 50 shots of Michael Irvin acting like a jackass on the sideline 🙄
You just reminded me why I prefer Indiana to win.
And you will get them. I remember how obvious it was that Tom
Jackson was having to muster all his patience just to tolerate Irvin long enough to be on NFL Countdown with him. At one point he had finally had all he could stomach and asked Irvin, on air, “Are you retarded?” If I ever meet Tom Jackson Im going to buy him a beer.
Won’t be watching and don’t really care, still haven’t seen either of these teams play a football game this year….Go Dawgs!

It’ll be ironic if the coach with a well-deserved reputation for in-game derpitude figures out a way to beat the hyped Cignetti. As its a home game for Miami and they’ve got the ability to match Indiana on the LOS, I think the Canes squeak one out here.
There are going to be more Indiana fans than Miami fans, fwiw.
I have been impressed with Indiana. That said, Miami has a punchers chance because its defensive front 7 is so physical and it’s offensive line and power running can keep the ball out of Mendoza’s hands.
I expect Indiana to win and to pull away from Miami to win comfortably as they are rolling right now. Like everyone else here, I don’t really care who wins, but either outcome will have obnoxious results (The bandwagon “U” fans from the 80s and 90s will be back wearing their Miami gear and the BIG 10 fans will be bragging how superior they are vs the SEC).
They already have this clown being a better coach than Kirby. I hope Kirby is hearing all this and taking it personal as all hell.
This is the reason I’m pulling for Miami.
I care who wins. I want Miami to win. The reason goes back 56 years to the 1969 Sun Bowl. Stay with me here. Nebraska beat my beloved Georgia Bulldogs 45-6. I was a young teenager and my whole life revolved around the Dawgs. I was crushed. Fast forward to the 1983 Orange Bowl when Miami upset the heavily favored #1 Nebraska Cornhuskers. I loved seeing Nebraska get beat like that. I became a Hurricane fan that day. ( If they are not playing us). So tonight I’ll be waving one of those hurricane warning flags and pulling for Beck to cut Indiana to pieces .
Six degrees of Sun Bowl, Gurka! I love it!
Works for me gurkha.
What better way to end this new system of CFB. To crown Miami a team unable to win its own conference or even qualify for it. To become the unquestioned national champions. That just seems perfect for CFB 2026.
Go Canes!
There are no more National Champions.
Just tournament champions.
If you win them all, I suppose I’ll consider making an exception.
If Indiana does it tonight they may become the new ‘72 Dolphins.
Hurricane warning flags *are* red and black….
I have Indiana fatigue, but I’ve hated Miami since the days of Jimmy Johnson. How many times does anyone think we’ll be subjected to seeing Michael Irvin acting like a fool on the sidelines? Hopefully not much as I expect Indiana to lay the lumber to Miami and beat the shit out them. I’m calling it at 42-17
OK…I was wrong, but it was poetic justice that Miami’s last possession ended on a Beck INT.
As an extra kick in the balls they’re playing Baba O’Reilly during the pregame hype…
Explanation why it wasn’t targeting on Miami and pass interference on IU: neither offending team is Georgia.
Man, the amount of holding they are allowing Miami to do is ridiculous.
So, um…Herbie…is Carson still smiling again?…
He rediscovered his love for football.
Of course he’s smiling again….he got paid 4 million dollars didn’t he?
