Eyes were glued to the TVs this past weekend, at least on Friday night and Saturday afternoon, but not much past that.
But let’s expand to 16! Yeah, that’ll do the trick! Here’s the basic idea, in a graphic:

Let’s just open it up to 64 teams and have November Madness or something, and we can have 18 game seasons when it’s all said and done.
It’s not about can #16 win, it’s about ESPN getting viewers so the presidents and ADs get big checks. Then they can overpay the coaches and players. Capitalism > College football.
Next stage is cutting the funding out from under the bottom 85%. Whittle it down to about 32 teams. Cut the rest loose.
Disney is just like a dope dealer, except their dope is cold, hard cash.
First get them hooked. Second, make them do your bidding for you.
Tulane/JMU getting thrashed just helps them make the case, behind the scenes.
It’ll be interesting to see if run of the mill bowl games continue to make money for tv or if ratings start to crumble there a bit. Bowl game retraction would really accelerate the end stage process imho.
Sacrificial lambs are a huge part of Mickeys sausage making, as Mickeys master plan to fuck it up, beyond recognition pushes forward to a smoldering trash heep….if there exists one asshole who is willing to defend that position, you’ll find that a$$hole has been paid…trust me, I’ve no ill will against paid assholes…
I’ve said this before, but it’s all about selling more booze, boner pills, and German cars. It will continue to expand until the revenues go under the break even point. So what if a few dozen young men have to deal with chronic pain the rest of their lives; what about all those widows with Disney stock in their IRA’s?
Umm, I’m red and black to the bone but I like my German cars, what’s the beef with them?
PS: Can you put that chart in a format where we can see the small type? Many thanks.
You just need Iseajah by Phizer! Sides effects may include nausea, diarrhea, loss of hearing , mild amnesia, and vertigo. Do not take Iseajah if you if you are are allergic to death.
LMAO. The only value in prescription drug ads are the side effects.
Stop taking this medication if you experience:
Hallucinations
Loss of motor control
Unexpected bowel movement
Hair or tooth loss
Temporary blindness
Use caution when operating heavy equipment. May cause drowsiness.
I’ll just deal with the eczema, thanks
Big pharma should be in the movie making bidnezz, their commercials are really compelling despite all those note worthy side effects….shitting the bed for the win….
Not a fan of gimmicks like double-byes or re-seeding…..
The Senator as always hit the nail on the head. Search “college football playoff expansion” on his site … his content is golden. I really wish we had won the whole damn thing in 2023:

RIP, Michael.
Reseeding is an interesting concept but even March Madness doesn’t do that. I’m all for it.
Next expansion to 16 very soon, then 24 etc etc…Who is going to have the guts to stand up and say no to mickey and the money, certainly not a conference commissioner, College president or AD.
The Play-In format looks better than what we have this year, but I’m for no byes at all (unless we don’t get rid of conference championship games) and most of all, play the games SOONER without so much time between each round. No team should be off 1 month before playing as the gap between each current round makes no sense.
College football is a SATURDAY game so play every game on SATURDAYS! Screw the NFL if the games overlap with theirs, they are trying to play every day of the week now anyway (or so it seems – remember when they used to only play on Sunday with 1 Monday night game?). Play each Saturday until you are done and let the bowl games play on New Year’s Day if it doesn’t fall on a Saturday. I don’t understand why they are desperate to keep THAT day for the CFP when they’re destroying College Football in every other way possible.
Lol, still more eyes for every game than that National Treasure Notre Dame
No automatic qualifiers, try to avoid conference rematches. The matchups will be better and conference power will be better decided on the field.
While I think Brandon’s premise is correct and the conference championship games, especially the SEC, should be great events that have impact on the CFP, I don’t think he is asking the correct question.
If his premise is that # of teams should be reduced from 12 to 8, 6, or 4, then comparison is not on the conference championship but how do the ratings for the 1st round games compare to the ratings for the bowl games those team would then participate?
