Good morning! It’s another Saturday without college football. Well, according to my calculations, we have 3 seven day weeks left! That’s 21 days for those of you that have trouble with goesintas and ciphering and numerals, and stuff. The NFL preseason has begun so, there’s some TV to watch with grown men smashing into each other as hard as humanly possible. Maybe that will hold us over a little until the Herd thunders into Athens.
So, for 21 days to go, here’s card #121:

Go Dawgs!
Goesintas? Say whaaaat? 🙂
I wonder if they’re gonna do anything special for Jim Donnan at the Marshall game. He made his bones at Marshall. I know he couldn’t get us past 7-8 wins a season but he did coin a great one: “World’s Smallest Outdoor Cocktail Party” for the ACCCG.
Donnan was better than a 7-8 win per season coach. We were in lousy shape when he took over, and he faced Florida and UT annually during those two schools’ greatest eras. We were 10-2 in 1997 and 9-3 in 1998. Our last 2 seasons were both 8-4.
Not only did he have to battle UF and UT he had to battle “The Georgia Way.”
He was an excellent coach whose two successors have been great coaches.
Donnan’s problem was losing to Florida, Auburn, Tennessee and Tech.
Still, I like the guy. It would be good to see both schools recognize him at the Marshall game.
Losing to Tech 3 times in a row is a Georgia football head coach career killer.
Losing to nation championship winners and runners up is not a disgrace.
Darn good Amway Salesman, too.
Donnan was a good OC and recruiter. Donnan was not a good leader.
