We are Herschel Walker days away from Georgia football! My best girl pointed out to me the other day that she saw a post on Facebook (I know) reporting on Herschel being hired as a Senior Coaching Advisor.
The coaching role will see Walker working primarily with running backs while serving as a program ambassador.
Me, personally, I’ve never heard of JAK Sports. This article was released on their site on July 22, 2025. Perusing through their other articles, looks like a bunch of clickbait, fake nonsense. But, it got me wondering… how would Herschel perform as a coach? I’ve often heard, people who are as talented at football as Herschel was… don’t do well trying to coach others. Would you want Herschel Walker to coach you on how to be a better running back?

Sometimes talents like Hershel are not good coaches. It’s hard to relate to normal people when you are Superman.
I’m not sure Herschel would be a good coach. Just don’t know.
You don’t stick around in the league for as long as he did without knowing the position.
I’m trying to phrase this as apolitically as possible. Herschel was a fantastic football player, but some of his recent comments and statements by his ex-wife suggest that he might not be the best ambassador for the football program. I hope they keep him on the field rather than make him a public face for the program.
Uh, no. Herschel was a great running back, perhaps the greatest of all time. And I’ll leave it at that.
Hershel is a DGD while in Athens and beyond is a meteoric understatement. His name never contours up any memories of the New Jersey Generals, Dallas Cowboys or Minnesota Vikings. He is and will always be a Georgia Bullldog. His natural abilities are hard to coach to the current generation, but he wants to sit in the RB room and roll film and say have an attacking mentality and be physixallly punishing to lb’ and db’s more power to him.
