I still remember that field goal against Clemson. I was sitting in the opposite end zone, upper deck. As soon as he hit it I jumped up and screamed “gooood!”
That was the loudest I have heard the stadium until the Richt years. Kirby’s crowds have surpast that obviously. That was a crazy game.
What a great game. I think Vince said he thought Butler had busted the ball, he kicked it so hard.
I was there as well. The next day at church Dr Carter’s sermon was on Butlers kick – hero’s and goats.
I was there with my dad. I couldn’t hear Larry’s call on my portable radio because it was so loud.
Mr. Butler plays a ton of golf at Sugarloaf now.
