Prime Time Nepotism

Stetson Bennett went on a tear and ended up winning two National Championships in two seasons, finished with a combined career win-loss record of 29-3, threw for 56 touchdowns against 14 interceptions in the two championship seasons, and found himself in New York City as a Heisman finalist. He also was only sacked 23 times in 2021 and 2022 combined. Not too shabby.

His number 13 was worn on the Red Team this past Saturday by AJ Kruah and on the Black Team by Tyler Williams. Not a retired number, in other words.

Meanwhile, in Boulder:

Sanders finished his Colorado career 13-12 as a starter, lost in the lone Bowl game they played against BYU, and was sacked – checks notes – 94 times. He threw for 64 touchdowns against 13 interceptions, but compiled a net rushing total of negative 127 yards with 8 touchdown carries. Travis Hunter is, no doubt, a unicorn talent, but so was Champ Bailey.

Champ’s number 4 jersey is currently worn by KJ Bolden and Oscar Delp.

Standards, amirite?

  1. I’ll be glad when that circus comes to an end. So much hype about so little. If Keyshawn Johnson had been a college football team he would have been Colorado. Dated reference I guess but I haven’t watched pro football in nearly twenty years. Keyshawn Johnson write a book after one year in the NFL called Just Give Me The Damn Ball. He never did anything to warrant such arrogance.

  2. I have never said “What the fuck?” with more sincerity. Truly embarrassing.

  3. Along similar lines take a look at what they’ve written in the fascia at Williams Brice Stadium. I guess you do what you can.

  4. Isn’t the “Georgia” “Way” all about NOT retiring numbers? I’m stunned we even started putting names on the back of the jerseys.

Your nepotism angle seems appropriate, how many Little League teams already have the coach’s son decked out with Acuna bling and a torpedo bat? Prime is just making sure his baby boys are getting the best participation trophies. Remember, Stet the Jet is studying his playbook by the light of his championship ringS reflection…

    • The Colorado fans aren’t particularly impressed by this, either. Best question is: why aren’t they retiring Shilo’s number, too? They’ll be renaming Folsom Field to Sanders Stadium at this rate. If Amazon Prime had more kids they’d have to get rid of numbers or switch to three digit numbers. Or maybe decimals.

    • LMAO. The Facebook pictures some of my acquaintances post of their 12 year old travel baseball phenom wearing tournament rings on every finger crack me up.
      Daddyball FTW!

  5. That’s about the biggest crock of shit I’ve ever heard of. A bunch of ‘Look at me’ MF’s. Any ranking of top coaches that has Sanders on it is a crock of shit too. FTMF’S

  6. What a frigging JOKE! Someone needs to put Shedeur’s stats up under his hanging jersey. Hunter, excellent player. However, just two years at the program but did win the Heisman. Colorado and Deion needs some attention. Tennessee was getting it all.

  7. Haha. That sounds like something Barn would do, but they would also build statues outside the stadium and put them next to Scam’s.

  8. I’m not big on retiring numbers, because it can cause problems down the road. I am a proponent of retiring and displaying jerseys to honor great players.
