After last week’s turnover fest, you have to imagine that some of the numbers and rankings have moved, and, boy, they have. Honestly, it’s a bit of a sight to behold…with a few head-scratchers.

And now for the turnovers.

Notes:
- How does Oklahoma have such a putrid offense yet only has one loss? Defense, apparently, although said defense was absent for two quarters on the Plains on Saturday. If you missed it, Auburn played 29 minutes of great football, which unraveled in the final minute of the first half with shitty clock management and two missed field goals in the closing seconds. Oklahoma’s offense is now a quarterback who can run for his dear life, and that’s pretty much it. Venables is working on borrowed time, and I imagine Texas will slaughter them in the Red River Rivalry.
- About Auburn, their Net YPP has them 5th in the league, so it’s not like they’re without talent. They’re just without QB talent. This should be a game for the Dawgs to lick their wounds and right some wrongs, but for some reason, our defense just doesn’t generate turnovers that often. If our team isn’t sleep walking and in their feelings come Saturday, we can recover in both of these areas.
- Texas A&M is a bit of an amazing case study. Kind of wrote them off after the Notre Dame loss, but they’ve quietly kept taking care of business, albeit against pretty lousy competition. If Oklahoma and A&M played, it could go down in history as the ugliest offensive game to ever be played.
- Ole Miss didn’t lose much in YPP, and still is at the top of both lists. If you didn’t watch the game, you need to know Ole Miss is still dangerous as hell, and Stoops’ philosophy of draining every second from the play clock on every play resulted in a time of possession that was roughly 40 minutes Cats, 20 minutes Rebs. It’s not that they stopped Ole Miss’s offense, they just simply did what they could to not let it play.
Hopefully we get this turned around. We need a fast start and a solid beatdown on Auburn this weekend to get the team feeling confident again.
You’re either elite or you’re not. WE AINT.
And some of y’all love it. Y’all are relieved to be able to bitch and moan again.
Auburn needs better QB talent but quite a few of those INTs hit the receiver and bounced out of their hands. If they don’t turn it over they’re not elite but dangerous.
OU hasn’t played anyone outside Auburn and UTk. They beat Houston who has been shut out 2 weeks in a row but Iowa State and Cincy.
Bama at 3.5 Net YPP, UGA at 0.5. Yep, that’s about what it felt like watching that game except for about a quarter of it. About three quarters of that game looked like a team that will likely play for the title against a team that likely won’t. I think the talent is there for the most part but something is definitely missing. Inexplicable, the entire coaching staff seemed to be missing in the first half. No idea what happened during the two weeks off to make us walk into BDS without a clue as to how to play football. Hopefully that’s just a one off, because we’ve seen little evidence before that this is not a good staff. Just shocking at how unprepared the team looked. It just feels like this season could go in a variety of directions, each about as likely as another. They may steamroll their way through the schedule & be clear favorites to win it all or they may turn most games into a fight and struggle to win 9 or 10 games. This is the first season since 2020 that I have doubts about their ability to win a title. And still all but a few programs would trade places with us in a second, so we’ve got that going for us!
