i think we all grind our teeth at times over Kirk Herbstreit’s attempts to influence CFB from his perch at Game Day. From his lobbying for both Ohio St and Michigan to play for the national championship in 2006, regardless of who wins their end of season matchup, to his call to Dom Raiola telling Dom his son HAS TO GO TO NEBRASKA, lots of people have felt Herbie has his thumb on the scale in favor of Ohio St in particular, the Big 10 in general, and always reflexively against the SEC. Game Day has become increasingly unwatchable as the Big 10/anyone but the SEC approach has taken hold the last few years. Rece Davis is too much of a professional to be an Alabama or SEC homer, so being left with Herbie’s pious attempts to pretend he’s impartial, Des’s inane cackling, and Pat’s whole schtick has to be difficult to handle.
apparently, it isn’t just UGA fans who find Herbie increasingly tedious. If they’re successful in sending Game Day in a new direction, all I ask is “please, take Des and McAfee with you.” Trade the lot of them to the Big 10 Network for a Lou Malnoti’s pizza, a leftover Urban Meyer quarter zip, and an autographed copy of Conor Stallions’ manifesto.
