Happy Friday! We’ve come to the end of this series of important questions for Georgia football in 2025. I hope you’ve enjoyed them and it helped get your juices flowing for the season. Football starts tomorrow! Time to get your big boy (or girl) drinking pants back on. For our final question, I thought about being cheeky and asking if Brett Thorson would punt in Game 1, but instead decided on something more intense.
CAN THE DAWGS AND KIRBY GET OFF THE BAMA SCHNEID?
In case you just crawled out from under a red and black rock, those craptastic gumps from the Yellowhammer State have beaten the Dawgs 9 of the last 10 games. Kirby Smart is 1-6 against Bama, did you know that, Pawwwwwl!! Alabama has also not played in Sanford Stadium in 10 years(!), and that place should register a seismometer reading if we do it right. Bama looks to have a terrific roster, but some holes in the front seven and a new QB, and the Dawgs will be his first SEC game on the road. Seems like a good opportunity to shake Ty-Ty’s nerves. They’ve become quite the nemesis, so Georgia is (over)due. The opportunity to run it down their throats and finish with a 4th quarter drive seems tasty.
Will they get it done?
No disrespect to Bama’s current coach, but he’s just not Saban. He’ll probably have the Crimson offense stroking, but will it be enough to counter our super jacked defense and highly capable offense, along with the loud and rowdy atmosphere of Sanford on a Saturday night. Coach smart will have the team beyond motivated for this one. I think we win, much like the way we beat Tennessee last year.
Tyler Simmons was onsides….
We don’t know enough about either team yet to offer any reliable predictions. I’m holding off on all judgments until after I see how we play in Knoxville.
Careful take, very reasonable. It’s certainly going to be interesting to watch Bama play FSU and Wisconsin but of course we won’t know much about them until our game either.
Should be a good game. Did y’all know Ryan Williams was only 17 years old last year? Nobody mentioned that.
Amazing! 😂
#fuckthosemotherfuckers.
Kirbs needs to put a solid beatdown on the laundry detergents. If he does? I like our chances to take it to the house. Go Dawgs.
Kirby’s job on the line for this one. 😜
Haha, his pride certainly is though.
Sunny beach…I want to win in Knoxville first…and then I’ll be screaming for the Pink Pachyderms to suck it.
The Bama game is on mine and Rigger’s birthday…so I hope I get cake and DeBoer gets humble pie.
It pains me to say it but I don’t think we do. Some teams just get into these kids heads. The rapid turnover in college football doesn’t seem to erase the institutional memory. I was in Sanford in 2008 when Ala-damn-bama blew past us to the tune of 31-0 at the half. We were supposedly the number 3 team in the nation going in. I think the only loss more demoralizing was our season opening loss to Boise State in 2011. I was living on St. Simons and flew in to ATL to be in attendance. Had a fantastic tailgate setup next door to Bernie from Bernie’s Dawg Blog but the Dawgs pooped the bed in embarrassing fashion. Leaving that game was was a horrible experience.
I agree that those two, along with the Spurrier beat down at Sanford in 1995, are three worst losses of my lifetime. However, any loss to Vanderbilt belongs on the list as well.
Yeah, I kind of forgot about the Ol’ Ball Coach ripping us a new one while the Gator Bowl was being rebuilt. I was in attendance for that as well. Sucked. On the other end of the spectrum, Michigan admitted that despite stealing our signals and knowing exactly what we were going to do on every play, they still couldn’t stop us. That makes me happy to think about.
I share the pessimism. I think this is the most important game we’ve had since 22. If Kirby can somehow shake the Alabama curse, he could launch/continue a Saban like run. There just always seems to be one team that we are inexplicably cursed against. Used to be Florida….and Tennessee for awhile. This game is BIG.
I well remember that one. The uniforms were an abomination! So was the play. I will say this, seeing some of those Boise State fans pre game after they had witnessed the Gay Pride and Dragon Con crowds was a hoot!
The 2011 Power Rangers Boise State debacle is a stain on UGA football. Hopefully I’ll forget how I felt leaving that game before I die.
Question regarding the 2008 bama disaster. On the opening drive didn’t we force a three an out by their offense. Then a stupid penalty awarded them a first down resulting in opening the flood gates? Seems I remember walking out thinking about how that penalty may have altered history.
Pretty sure Bama took the first drive right down the field and scored.
I am just going to put this out there. If the Dawgs start this season 4-0, the rest of college football better look the fuck out!
Yes. They are gonna be after Ty like a pack of dogs after a pot of leftovers. I believe Kirby has that one circled.
